Description
Download for fullviewMy first run at texturing this thing. It's all procedural, because I can't do UV mapping for the life of me. I think it looks pretty good. It's actually a composite of three different renders: color, bump mapping, and basic shape and shadows. I assembled it in Photoshop. One layer is color, one overlay, and the last normal. What do you people think? Suggestions? Comments?

Looks fairly good. I know I've had problems with learning how to do uvw mapping in Max, but I've been learning. I'm really making progress on my current Destroyer project. Unfortunately, the tutorial site I normally recommend doesn't have anything about uvw mapping in Bryce. But here it is anyway for you [link] Looks like it might be getting some spam on it, but trust me, there's some good tutorials spread throughout it.

My biggest problem is how to do unwrapping. If I can get that, then I can make a texture in Photoshop, no problem. But Blender doesn't have any sort of automated system, you have to do it all manually, as far as I know. We'll see if Bryce is better.

Well, max has the tools built in, but it isn't exactly intuitive in use. And the chang in functionality from ver 7 to ver 8 was a bit of a shock. But it actually made it easier to map complex objects. I'm sure if you do a search you can probably find some tutorials on it.

I don't know. I've looked for ones in Blender, and haven't been able to find much. Basically, I know how to do it, but it's such a pain I don't bother. When I get Bryce, I'll take a look around.
