A brief intermission with the raccoon twins. Perhaps I could have discarded this page for the re-edition, considering that the order between chapters 5 and 6 has changed and we won't explore the history of these two until chapter 6...but since the 5th will begin to explore this subject, I think we can keep this transition page. I didn't even remember how fun to draw were these two.
In the original post, many had interpreted this page as an indication that Shifty had a crush on Flaky (for some reason) and although shipping doesn't bother us anymore, it was never our intention to imply that. We didn't know how to write dialogues ambiguous enough to make it clear that they are talking about another character and although that confusion is still observed in the structure of this page, at least I think it isn't so bad anymore. I can't go into many details about it because that would be spoilers, but I will only say that both the bird and the scar are related to this character that is exclusive for the comic. She doesn't really appear on the cartoon...but let's just say it's implied. Trust me, there will be plenty of time to suffer for that too
This page is the last one that was originally inked by hand, so soon we'll be seeing more continuous and thinner lines that unlike all that have been seen so far (except for the special cases of pages 4 and 5 of this chapter), they will be completely recreated from the original drawings, whose full-size versions have been lost over the years and a remake is necessary, rather than a simple re-edition.
The changes will be much bigger from now on, but at least in my opinion...I think Sweet Lullaby never looked as good as it does now

After reading the description, I can see why some people thought he had a crush on Flaky. The wording sorta makes it seem like it would be her. So I guess that's why some people might be confused. oAo
But after reading what you said, is the Pink bird in the last panel the one Shifty has a crush on? I'm so curious to know now! XDD It seems like the birds are a recurring theme in the comic, so I wonder if they got separated ,or she left him or something. >v< I can't wait to see what happens next!

Yeah, I never considered that possibility when I first read the script ten years ago...but yeah, now I can see why that happened. Hopefully the real thing can exceed the expectations, chapter 6 (which is the one to fully explore this topic) is Nihil's favorite chapter, and while I think I don't have a favorite at this point, I can definitely where she comes from.
I can't respond to your question without spoilers, but the bird is indeed closely related to this character. You will have a much better idea of what I mean by that at the end of this chapter

At first, i do mistake 'her' as Flaky with Shifty probably having a crush on her. But then, due to further context (such as the red bird in old artworks), i assumed that you supposed to meant another character.
Hopefully we'll get to see 'her' in future chapters^^

I suppose I can see why people confused 'her' with Flaky, as she's the only character that could possibly be referred to as such. There's not a lot we could to to make this page more ambiguous, but at least we think it's a little better this time

It was probably slightly ambiguous, it still sorta is even now, but I got to the real purpose of the page a lot quicker than what people who read the previous version would have guessed. There's more context and you've done a great job of setting up a scene.
I really hope to see Sweet Lullaby continue forward, I hope you all are doing okay in terms of funding so far.

Your comments are just as important to me as they are to those who are already familiar with the comic, and I'm very glad to see you got the real purpose of the page despite what you read later on the description. I feel much more confident with our skills now, so hopefully we won't have as much trouble when we start working on the first new pages after 8 years.
Sweet Lullaby's funding is still small (we have 10 patrons at this point ), but we're doing all we can to take advantage of our limitations, take a good care of our current patreons and try to attract more people among the way. I'm not a fan of more popular websites like Instagram or Twitter, but it seems like we will have to do an extra effort and expand the comic to other sites. One of them was Youtube...it may still is, depending to what will happen to it after the whole COPPA law thing. We'll see what happens, until then, we're still going to do our best try.

No problem, you've improved so much since all those years and your skills are now very polished, your style is unique in a way that it's not very demanding on the shading, uses thick lineart, and surprisingly simple and attractive.
10 Patrons is already quite a lot, I've seen people have less patrons than that. So you're already doing a very decent job. If funding doesn't suffice, then yeah, you may need to force yourself to get into Twitter and Instagram. YouTube? Maybe not now, there's a lot of drama over it currently. Just keep trying your best though.

Nah, that was just what a lot of people had interpreted on the original post, possibly due to the dialogues referring to a "her" character when Flaky is the only one that could possibly be referred to as that at this point in the story
It is related with the scar though, which should be explored by the end of chapter 6
