Description
This is one of the wooden weapons i had completed for a science fiction convention last year, and since its that time of the year again, i'll be hitting the woodsop with some new designs for swords, daggers, and other miscellany fantasy pieces..oddly, i never had any plans, for this piece, just began shaping wood, and later scrawled it on one of my shop tables afterwards...
built it with a plaque, and people tend to treat it as a kinetic sculpture when they see it..
bought last year by a Klingon who inspired me to the do the piece a year before..

I've said it before, in fact not more than five minutes ago I said it, You are the god of woodcrafting. You could end up being the next Kit Rae. Great designs, if not a bit impractical in design for a fight, but hey, who would use a wood weapon anyway?

you may want to consider making these things in 3d rather than wood, there the same thing, just digitally perserved.

mah, i tried 3d modelling and couldn't really grasp or enjoy it >.<
Thoguh i do admire the work that many 3d artists do (and tend to gawk at the nicer of the spacecrafts they model and render lol) i don't really have much of a desire to take up 3d computer modelling myself.. i find myself wanting to make wooden or sculpted models of them though lol..
i wouldn't ever REPLACE one medium i enjoy with another though.. (like if i ever decided to go back into the trenches and try 3d again, i won;t ever abandon woodworking because i enjoy it too much)

okay, that sounds reasonable. It's nice to be able to actually touch something that you made. I used to do stuf with wood my self, but nothing even close to on par with what you've done.

rock on, nice work. You made that from wood? great job. You might want to get your hands on a CAD-CAM system and hit up some local machine shops, im sure there is one who might need some work. Check out bobcad.com, they got a CAD-CAM system that gives everything you need.
(CNC Machining in a nutshell in case you dont know, )
(1. Draw your part on a CAD system )
(2. Use a CAM system to make the G-Code file for the CNC machine you are going to run it on. )
(3. Put the G-Code file on the CNC machine and let her rip, once its done it will cut the whole part for you)
If you decide to take this route, you can crack the BobCAD system, look for a key-gen, if not, you can usually beat the sales guys down to $500 for the old system, maybe less if you be a dick. I used to work for them, trust me, they will take pretty much any price you throw at them.
