Description
This is one of the wooden weapons i had completed for a science fiction convention last year, and since its that time of the year again, i'll be hitting the woodsop with some new designs for swords, daggers, and other miscellany fantasy pieces..oddly, i never had any plans, for this piece, just began shaping wood, and later scrawled it on one of my shop tables afterwards...
built it with a plaque, and people tend to treat it as a kinetic sculpture when they see it..
bought last year by a Klingon who inspired me to the do the piece a year before..

Very beautiful and unique! =^_^= Wood seems a bit unusual for making a weapon out of, but that's just because metal is *everywhere* in weapons. ::Claps:: I love it! One question that always comes to mind when I look at any sort of weapon though. . . is it practical and useable? I imagine it works as a throwing weapon?

i sincerely doubt that it has any real practival use as a weapon beyond possible intimidation factor.. i'm figuring that as a throwing weapon it prolly wouldn't be too effective lol, i think one would have better luck with a boomerang XD

It certainly looked metallic as a thumb, and even before full view, and not for the wood grain, I would bet money that it was! 8D

That is a wicked piece. I love the look and design of it, and the fact that it is something you have really made. Well done.
Just as a bit of curiosity. In the picture, it looks like the blades have a bit of angle/tilt to them. Is this correct? I've never tried to design a weapon to be thrown, so I cannot proscribe to being any kind of authority in their construction, but my initial thought is that any tilt given to an extended blade would cause either lift or drag (naturally dependant on the direction of angle/tilt). I would think that a slight angle/tilt might be of use, you know? If the blades were turned in such a way to give a minor lift, the weapon could carry further when thrown, without making it's flight unpredictable or unuseable.
Anyway, my babbling done, that is really a good looking piece. I'm glad to see that weapons are still being designed with style and imagination.

actuallly, the blades are completely flat.. I never really considered actually throwing it, or if it was thrown, it actually being able to travel more than a few meters before the sheer weight would pull it out of the air lol
The only real consideration i had when i was making this was "a three-pronged frisbee of death would look cool on my wall" , then istarted bodging th thing together lol..

this remind me of warcraft, the weapons of the Nightelves... but it's large compared to this.. can you also do that one??
