Description Welcome to the dunes of Maspalomas!

Iam back after a month of doing nothing on deviantART.
For the last two weeks I was on holyday on the canary islands (gran canaria and teneriffa) - it was a great trip nice weather, landscapes, people...and I took about 600 pictures...my 5GB card is fully loaded with images.
This is the first one I come out with...its taken at Maspalomas beach...when walking along the dunes it felt like beeing in a large desert!

LOL - well i guess people get used to it...so after all its nothing special anymore...but thanks to the moon this one still has something more than just sand dunes.

Awesome picture. I love the contrast between the sand and the sky, it really brings out the effect. Though I am curious about the name. Fata Morgana as far as I know means something like illusion. Are you referring to the picture as a idyllic fantasy or dream like picture because it so perfectly captures your typical idea of a desert? Just wondering...

ffmdotcom In reply to Scooz87 [2005-10-04 09:21:07 +0000 UTC]

Well it looks somehow unreal to me...it looks so clean and the moon in the background makes it look even more strange...but still not to unrealistic...i guess its the same like looking at a "Fata Morgana"...in the first moment its hard to point out if its real or not...

I'm not arguing with ya. After first I thought it was a Photoshop manipulation, it looked too perfect. You are lucky to have gotten such a great picture.

Just imagine warm sunbeams an a warm wind flying along the dunes...this makes the picture even better.

Currently iam asking myself why we still dont use german to talk to each other...

thecolos In reply to ffmdotcom [2005-10-05 10:11:59 +0000 UTC]

ffmdotcom In reply to thecolos [2005-10-06 22:11:56 +0000 UTC]

Well there are some nice places without masses of Hotels...like Puerto de Mogan...really a nice place to be...but most parts of the south are full of hotels and stuff...

We didn't stop at Puerto de Mogan, but if I;m right, that;s the little town with the big mountains right? [link] (Took this near San Nicolas)

This one is somewhere between Puerto Rico and Mogan: [link]

And this is Puerto Rico: [link]
