Welcome to the dunes of Maspalomas!
Iam back after a month of doing nothing on deviantART.
For the last two weeks I was on holyday on the canary islands (gran canaria and teneriffa) - it was a great trip nice weather, landscapes, people...and I took about 600 pictures...my 5GB card is fully loaded with images.
This is the first one I come out with...its taken at Maspalomas beach...when walking along the dunes it felt like beeing in a large desert!

The desert has always had a place in my heart. Such alien beauty really. Amazing how an ancient civilization flourished in one. I know this is a beach and all but it does bring sense of a desert out. What a wonderful, dreamy shot.

only one thing...seems to me shade from a hill, its possible it would be less black and contrast, it was not such bright contrasting spot in all composition

i thought this was a desert, just exactly how big is this beach anyway?

Well i dont have exact numbers...but i think its about 6x2km...not that much but its hard to walk trough deep sand and so it seems to be endless big after walking some steps...
I'll post another pic soon...this will show the size even better...

i could tell by that thumbnail because deserts MOVE!
From what i can tell the air currents go sea-bound dont they?
Otherwise there would be life in place of that desert.

Well i am not 100% sure where this desert-like thing comes from...wind changing direction all the time...anyway it's a nature protection area...this would explain why its still there

well if the winds mainly blow the desert sands away from the coast, it will grow.
this is the most unorthodox terrain zone i have seen!
and how big is that island?

All i can say is - its a great place! So many different types of landscapse across the islands! Its great!

Im Grunde ein einfaches Bild, aber die Aufteilung und die gerade perfekte Menge an Details macht es faszinierend fΓΌr den Betrachter. Ich bin echt beeindruckt!

Bin aber auch mehr als zufrieden mit dem Resultat - wollte ja meine Kamera erst garnicht auspacken weil ich Angst hatte dass sie mir in den Sandkasten fΓ€llt.

Auf Fuerte war ich leider noch nicht...aber die DΓΌnen sind echt total klasse! Ohnehin war Gran Canaria recht abwechslungsreich.

Ich stehe nicht so auf Gran Canaria , ist die Insel die ich am wenigsten mag , von den sieben!Du solltest auf jedenfall mal nach Fuerteventura , na ja , jede hat ihre Eigenheit ich glaube es ist einfach auch Geschmackssache!

Hmm naja ich kenne bisher nur GC und TF - die anderen kenne ich nur von ErzΓ€hlungen. Aber ich denke bei nΓ€chster Gelegenheit schaue ich mir auch mal die anderen an. Gomera wurde mir von einem Arbeitskollegen empfolen...er hat mir ein paar Fotos von dort gezeigt...echt sehr schΓΆn und nicht so sehr von Touristen belagert.
Kommst du denn direkt von den Kanaren? Oder bist du da hingezogen? Und woher kannste denn so gut Deutsch?
