Its the APC from the movie Aliens! ok well not really but it is this type of vehicle that the production company of the movie based the prop on.what you are seeing is actually an aircraft tug that pushes the plane away from the terminal so it can spin up its engines, airplanes have no reverse.

Uhh... what year was this photo taken. The pushback (the name of this type of vehicle) looks gray and kinda depressing.

2011 I think, Was likely at either Denver or Chicago I only remember it was when I was changing planes on a layover going cross-country.

old united livery, United even painted their planes a dreary grey for awhile.

Dreary gray planes and dreary gray pushbacks? Sounds like a depressive Soviet Airport (they even fit the mold of a 1984 dictatorship)
Also is it possible to add "Pushback", "Gray", and "Grey" as tags on this picture.

well they do use quite amazing CGI today... but the problem is for every Avatar you have 1000 movies that abused it and didnt make proper use of it.
