Alright guys and girls! Here are the finished products! Link's sword and shield based on the Twilight Princess designs!
The sword is made from poplar wood, the sheath from poplar wood, with hand-dyed leather, and the shield from pine with a leather arm-strap and pvc handle.
The sword and sheath together weigh ~5 pounds, and the shield is ~10 pounds.

10 pounds, quite a heavy shield! You know weathering looks good on many props but I think Link's weapons do look much better shiny and clean.

I know, it's pretty heavy! The client said he's had heavier though, so I guess it's alright. He said he's probably gonna have me cast them once he gets the money, and then it'll be hollow cast with a fiberglass gel.

So you would make a mold around the shield and once it is ready you would pour fiberglass resin/gel so you get a fiberglass copy?

yep! I've seen volpin props do some similar stuff recently and thought I'd try it out on the shield.
