Description Before there are any misunderstandings: I´m by no means a professional. I´m still learning, myself. I make mistakes. This is just the way I draw and doesn´t mean you have to do it that way, too. Just sayin´.:>
Ask away if you have any questions. Don´t be shy to write a critique or some advice. And sorry, if there are any (grammar) mistakes in it. English is not my first language.^^'

The Linework tutorial (SAI) I mentioned can be found here: [link]

The texture I used for the water can be found here: [link]

Even if you're still learning, you're way ahead compared to me Besides I don't even know how SAI looks like so I can't really relate to some things you said. But from what I see here, we have similar work steps pattern ^^
I found a few useful tips about lightning nonetheless and I believe that is quite good tutorial ^^

Well, it´s mostly just overlay, multiply and lighting layers combined with several hard and soft brushes. For shading and lighting I used the same pastel brown, for the base a light turquise and as an eyecatcher violet highlights here and there.

It´s quite a lot of text, that I should have shortened and showed more images instead. But I did only have so much WIPs/Screenshots and lots to explain.^^'

The next one will probably be better.

We learn from our mistakes so it's good You'll be more satisfied with the next one.
It reminds me that I was supposed to do a tutorial before the hiatus...

I wait for another one then ^^

What kind of tutorial did you want to do?

Someone asked me to give him advice about drawing anthro characters, so I told him I could do a short tutorial for that. I never got around to finish that. Scratch that, I barely started ^^"

Anthros aren´t that easy to draw. I mostly get the proportions wrong, so the heads are too big and the arms and legs too long and thin. Human anatomy is just a mystery to me.:´D

I not that knowledgeable myself. I was drawing anthros for... two months previously? And I always use a lot of reference materials while I draw. Just until I get everything right.

I always use references for human bodytypes, too. That´s one of the reasons I don´t do commissions on humans or anthros, the other that I simply doesn´t enjoy drawing them most of the time.

I don't quite enjoy drawing humans either. But when they have paws and animal head it makes huge difference and then drawing a human body starts to be really interesting ^^ I wonder why

I only like drawing centaur creatures. They spare me drawing butts or thighs.XD

And I like thighs and arms very much xD The more muscled the better xD

I still have to learn how to draw them. Maybe your tutorial will help me out there.XD

Great Tutorial! what canvas size did you use for this?

finiens In reply to Liimesquares [2013-04-04 21:12:34 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!X3
I used a canvas of 1200x2419pxl. Usually I start of with a 1000x2000 canvas and adapt it while working on the sketch, therefore they pretty much always get a very random size.XD
