Description A messy rough sketch of a concept Star Wars freighter design I had in mind with feedback coming from . May expand on this in the future.

From the messy lines, originally I wanted the cockpit to be center-mounted with four cargo wedges (two in the back, two in the front), which are the same cargo wedges from the YT-1930 to double the cargo capacity from that freighter, while making it a bit more maneuverable & faster than previous models along with heavier armor plating & heavier shields (it's still a freighter either way; designed to give freighter captains a better edge when hauling cargo &/or passengers). However the wedges didn't look right no matter what I did (ultimately decided to have the cargo wedges as aftermarket products), so decided to use an unused freighter concept from "Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance" (before it became the Otana, a YT-2000 light freighter) as you see here (second row, fourth & fifth one while having the cockpit cone shape from the one in the fifth one in the first row while having the two "forks" in the second design in the middle row): www.artbot.com/concept/otana_a… The cockpit still retained the traditional design though I decided to make it closer to the design from a WWII-era B-29 Bomber cockpit seen here: farm4.static.flickr.com/3124/2… (Actual interior of the YT-2600's cockpit in terms of seat arrangement coming soon.)

(RP) History:

Following the successes of the aging YT-series 1000, 1300, 1760, 1930, 2000, & 2400 (despite the problems the mentioned freighters had), Corellian Engineering Corporation decided to make the "penultimate" freighter, the true "pinnacle" of the YT-series. After countless hours of designing, & released about/over five years after the Battle of Endor, CEC came up with the YT-series 2600 light freighter. Triple-skinned armor plating made the ship much more sturdy & durable compared to the 2400, along with heavier shielding compared to the 2000, more cargo capacity (possibly) compared to the 1930, faster sub-light speed compared to the 1760, & near-limitless customization options compared to the 1300, &, with improved maneuverability & full compatibility with upgrades/mods from previous YT-series models, the 2600 boasted to be the "perfect freighter" for captains all over the galaxy. (For example, the cockpit can be mounted on the starboard side or center-mounted & have two to four cargo wedges in the front &/or back while having a different set of engines.)

Upon release, the reviews were mixed. Many freight captains & critics praised the near-limitless customization options (one captain reported how much easier it was to upgrade or modify compared to previous models & how many more options), performance (another captain reported how easy it was to fly, even for novices), & even cargo/passenger room. However despite having state-of-the-art technology installed into the new freighter, captains who owned one reported many problems with the technology, describing them as "buggy" or "glitchy", even stalling. Fortunately, due to the compatibility, the problem was fixed, though it did little to ease the captains' aggravating complaints. The ship's aesthetic design was also criticized, described as "unoriginal" & "not quite pleasant", even made worse with aftermarket upgrades. The biggest criticism of all was the price of a new freighter. Critics complained that the price of buying a new YT-2600 bordered on "purchasing a brand new pleasure yacht". One freighter captain, however, said "sure, she's expensive, but with all the options, she's worth the price".

Unfortunately by the time of "The Force Awakens", seeing a YT-2600 was uncommon to almost rare, due to the less-than-reasonably-well sales.

YT-series light freighters belong to Disney & George Lucas. Unused Otana concept from "Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance" belongs to LucasArts/Lucasfilm, George Lucas, Totally Games, & Disney.
