Description I don't change descriptions to my art as a rule. I usually just add an EDIT: blah blah blah
I just feel the old description just doesn't work and needed the boot ... so here's the new one:

Soap Box:
A soapbox is a raised platform on which one stands to make an impromptu speech, often about a political subject. The term originates from the days when speakers would elevate themselves by standing on a wooden crate originally used for shipment of soap or other dry goods from a manufacturer to a retail store. The term is also used metaphorically to describe a person engaging in often flamboyant impromptu or unofficial public speaking, as in the phrases "He's on his soapbox", or "Get off your soapbox."

Deviant art is not the place to fly off on your personal little rants and insult people for their beliefs. It's bigoted and unnecessary.

Theism and atheism is not your local sports team. It forms an integral part of the persons life. It is fundamentally part of the person and how they view the world. I personally don't care if you agree or disagree with this statement, but it's how I see it.

Please remember if you reply here:

I don't mind you airing your opinion ... just remember your opinion is not the only opinion

On the hidden comment below:
It was sad to see that I actually had to hide a comment. This person created "anti" art geared at this stamp and tried to advertise it on here. I do feel that I need to thank them though for stalking me to this degree because they have bumper stickered this stamp all over their artist description and gained me four faves (possibly more since then).

I agree. If I don't like something, I don't comment or pay any attention to it at all. I know I can't change the worlds opinions to fit mine, so I've learned not to try to, now I wish others would learn the same.
What I find weird is that a few people I've seen saying they support tolerance, turn around the next second and rant about how they hate anything to do with Christianity. They say we're hypocrites... almost everyone is hypocritical about something, so stop ranting because others do the same thing, it's not confined to just one religion.
Ugh, um, sorry for my own little mini rant there.
Anyway, this stamp is got a great message. But shouldn't it say "Not your personal religion intolerance Soap box" Or are you saying it sarcastically?

Agreed
and yes it's meant to be sarcastic ... I just find that people use dA as their soap box and largely seem to act like children ... what I mostly see is people saying "I am against all religion", all fair and well, but then they make stamps that say people who do believe are idiots ... and mostly their stamps are geared at Christians and Christianity.

As I said ... they need to put their big boy pants on and act like the rest of the adults out there

Thanks. Cool, I'm glad there is someone out there with a good head on their shoulders.
Ok, that's what I thought.
Yep. They do need to.

Agreed. It's just plain stupid to be a hateful person. What pisses me off is that the admins don't do anything about people who act like that. A community is supposed to be welcoming to everyone.

Actually whats more angering is I saw an admin make a journal saying something like this : "and for all the xtians, now we ... " ... the admin are not only allowing it but they are almost endorsing it in a way

Thanks for the support

If the admin is not into religion, I will be the first to respect that. Religion is a choice. However, this is not what this site is for. This site is for art which means everyone should be welcomed here.

Not everyone does this.

Hell, I'm atheist but I have never insulted ones religion.

nope ... not every one does it and I am very grateful that the majority doesn't and that is is a small minority (with very big mouths and even bigger opinions).

Fact remains that there are a few dozen on dA that do it on a regular basis ... very loud and over opinionated people who generalise religion based on one or two experiences of people from that religion; or from sub surface reading of religious texts where their sole focus is on the more harsh elements. Some even go as far to pick out a situation and apply a broad statistic and blame that "finding" ... and the broadest stat is religion and more than likely that stat is Christianity.

My stamp is aimed at the people who do this ... not to the rest.

True, but this isn't limited to just dA either. Hell, if it was, the internet wouldn't have the reputation that it has in general.

I just came across one yesterday with "lump them altogether" statements about a certain religion and a couple countries that are unbalanced, unfair, untrue, and sure to turn off a lot of the people on Deviant. Now, add this in: As I started my new site, people FROM THOSE COUNTRIES were amongst my first friends that put a watch on me! Hopefully, art (and architecure) like food and music, brings us together as a world, instead of dividing. I couldn't put a potentially divisive and antagonistic "mission statement" up on my site without risking offending people from those countries and religious backgrounds. We're here to make friends, not enemies.

Hey ... nicely said
Problem is that I do see pokes at religion on a site that's meant to be community focused (and there are many many jokes, comments, posters, whatever). How on earth can you have a community enjoying each other for ART when select few people go on a religious rampage?

Yes. I saw a site for atheists today. I wonder what that's all about? he he...

Thanks ... I have been bottling that rant for quite a long time. I probably should have added more ... but most people do the "tl;dr" think and blast you for your opinion
