Exactly! It's not like anyone is forcing you to look at stuff fans make that you don't like. Most fanfic/fanart archive services these days have incredibly simple filtering and tagging tools. The only thing that ruins fandom are fans who take it way too seriously!

No fun, no point. 
Boy can "serious business" ever kill the joy. Believe me, I can compare myself now and before. Storing /showing this in favorites so I can alternate it with the few other similar stamps I've found! I like the colors ~ It was nice with those against black, stands out a bit.
I have no problem with people making "unoriginal" fan characters, making believe they're in an imaginary world, getting carried away with their love for a couple / game / movie / book and so on, saying it's much more fantastic /deep /cute than I would agree on. Why on Earth should I? They're enthusiastic and having fun! As long as they're not stopping anyone else from having it, I'm all for that.
What I like to avoid is the people who seem to have to stop others from having fun their way. Those that just have to explain why others are ruining their fandom, likely accompanied by why their fandom is superior to any other and why they are superior as fans within it. Poisons the atmosphere, it does. Seriously, I swear I started shipping Sonic/Mario as compensation for rabid gamer fanboys. >_>

ROFL! Yeah, I simply refuse to let the antics of others "ruin" anything for me. If somebody ships a pairing I don't like, I don't have to look at it. If someone writes "bad" fanfiction, I don't have to read it. (Granted, my sister and I do run a fanfic writing "crash course" at one of the local conventions, but even there, our first major point is that the author having fun with it is the top priority!) And most of all, even if another fan is doing something I disagree with, the point remains that we are BOTH fans and thus deserving at least a modicum of respect.
I've seen the antagonistic behavior destroy fandoms almost past the point of saving, and it's just sad.

But a fan fiction crash course is a great idea; writing is something you need to practice and structure, just like drawings. 
Second all the rest, too. There's only a few pairings, worlds and characters that are my big favorites, but the others are fun to see too. And when they're not, nobody's forcing me to look.
What is really embarrassing is that many of the antagonists are in my own generation; we're soon 30 and should be able to be more laid back and laugh at ourselves. XD

Same here; it's almost as if the average maturity level of our generation has taken a nose-dive and you've got 20 and 30-somethings still acting like prepubescent hormonal trainwrecks over stuff that really doesn't matter.

I agree.
People get a little to serious about their fandoms, I think. The whole point of being a fan, IMHO, is to like something (or love something, to be more exact LOL), but have fun with it at the same time and meet people with similar interests through various fan groups, etc. The way I see it, if you can't make fun of your own fandom and/or have fun with it, can you really call yourself a fan?

Plus it seems like there's always some people who forget that it's just a show/game/book/etc and really get bent out of shape by folks that don't take it so seriously. If you can't laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at?

Some of the more obnoxious clique-y fandom behavior actually reminds me an awful lot of the sort of idiocy teens get up to in middle or high school, actually. So I prefer to deal with it the same way I dealt with those types in school: listen to their opinions, then proceed to consider the source of the opinion and discard or listen to it as appropriate!

I SO agree with this stamp! In fact, I'm jumping with joy that I found it.
It's very, very true. Fandoms (whatever they are) should be fun--for everyone. Sadly I see so much stuff going on when it comes to fandoms these days that it's just... mind blowing--people arguing over something or other, fan wars, people fighting over characters, bashing, flaming, etc. Too much to even list. I ignore it the best I can because I find it sad and just pathetic.

Yeah, especially when you consider that most everybody GETS into fandom stuff because they like the source material. But some of them really need a reality check and to remember that for all we may adore the objects of our obsession, they aren't real, and certainly not worth all the bile and hate some people will generate!

One of the common things that annoys me is when people 'claim' certain characters as theirs. Then they get jealous if another fan likes the same character and start shouting at them that the character belongs to them, loves them, etc, etc. I see nothing wrong with a character being your boyfriend or whatever in your own private fantasies, but when you get out among other people, that character is free for anyone to love and enjoy. No said person owns it except for the people who created it. Just because someone might scream in my face that a character is their boyfriend, it isn't going to stop me from loving the same character. I mean, yeesh! We're all fans here. Let's act like it instead of starting civil wars with each other.

I dunno, I just find that "So-and-so fictional character is MY boyfriend/girlfriend so you can't like them too!" is more creepy than anything else. I joke that "real men are 2-D!" all the time, but I don't seriously mean it.

Oh, I have fun with my fandoms, alright. Whether it's browsing through Mario art, talking to fellow Mario fans, enjoying great games like Super Mario Galaxy, or whatever, I certainly have fun with my fandoms. Great stamp. ^_^
