Description
This is the final piece I will be doing for my Voodoo series, an emotionally tough decision. Originally I had an idea of grandeur, but I think it would have been too much.The image and title symbolize the end of the series. The relic is illustrated by the 'spirit' lamp, overgrown and forgotten, trying to remain existent.
So here's to the end of my 'Voodoo' series, but a new beginning for a new year and for artistic growth. I've come a long way from my first 'Voodoo' piece (2006) and hope to grow more over the next year.
As the winged vixen makes a new discovery, I hope to discover new art techniques.
.5 Mechanical Pencil, 2 days on and off (~12 hours overall).

How do you usually come up with ideas such as these?

Uhhh... Really they pop or clunk around in my head. Originally I thought 'winged vixen' and sketch an action line. Then I think of a pose that might fit well. Afterward I decide what I want her to interact with. It's sort of pieced together.

Omg I remember these! Ugh all of your Voodoo Things always make me want to cover my characters in bird skulls and draw them dancing around a fire xD. This came out SO so well too! It's SUCH a huge improvement on your last piece too omg! I love how anatomically correct your wings are now and how DETAILED the feathers and fur are! My lord HOW do you even do that with a mechanical pencil. Lord I can barely WRITE with a mechanical pencil! xD The scene is so soft and lovely too and the character has such lovely anatomy and ugh everything is just perfect. AMAZING job with this!

The original finale was to have several character performing a dance around a fire with drumming character in the bg...but I felt that would be a ton more work than I'd prefer.
I can say gladly I'm happy with how the wings turned out- if only I could capture the same shading technique with color. I seem to do fine in black and white but give me color and I turn into a tard.
Thank you so much! I was very happy with how this piece turned out. I liked it enough to make it a commission option.
