Description
One of the older vessels in the arsenal of the Union fleet, the Type II Scout Destroyer is on its last legs of service. Once a versatile ship and the workhorse of the fleet, it has since been superseded by the newer Type IV class. As their numbers in the Union Astrofleet begin to dwindle, these ships are not given the same treatment as the rest of the armada, instead being captained by inexperienced or incompetent commanders who have been shunted sideways out of the hierarchy.Often decrepit and beat up, the Type II scout destroyer brings more scorn than awe when it appears. With the exception of a few outstanding vessels, most of the lineage has begun to crumble, resulting in a dilapidated appearance not too different from what is seen above.
It does not possess a neutron beam emitter, and has only three anti-proton emitter arrays and six missile tubes. Its single warp nacelle is often prone to failure due to flaws in its design, all of which have been corrected in the Type IV class.

Absolutely love this design here. Is that giant wing for heat exhaust or propulsion?

Sorry for the uber late reply! It's partially for heat radiation and partially a portion of the ship's warp drive mechanism.

Outstanding work. The single nacelle is centred, so I suppose this is a symmetrical design?

Aye, it's symmetrical. The ship only needs one nacelle, but the problem with that is, if it breaks, there's no backup. Plus moar nacelles means moar speed in the case of this kind of design.
