I'm quite happy with the way the colouring work is going. With a mixture of three different materials, the fired clay piece is coming along nicely. The reflection of the light here is playing tricks, however. The middle of the portal is actually a lighter blue, growing darker as it gets closer to the portal edges. I decided to gloss the middle and leave the portal itself with a more rough appearance. I think it works quite well. Oh, and the hole is for hanging.
