Description
This is inspired by the death of Samus in Super Metroid. You don't die too often in that game, so it's a rare sight (rare treat?).Related content

Speaking of... I have 3 pages of the comic inked now. They are pretty sloppy. I'm working on the 4th now.

I often think it would be cool if by chance it turns out that the explosion of her suit doesn't kill her, and also that it turns out she can breathe the air on the alien planet, because then she'd find herself a defenseless naked human female underground on a planet full of hostile alien creatures
Then the only thing left to do is try to make a run for her parked ship, where maybe she can have a new suit waiting, that is if she can make it there without incident

It would make a nice drawing, but not a very fun game I fear.

They actually did something along those lines in Metroid: Zero Mission. After you beat Mother Brain, Samus' suit gets destroyed, and you have to stealth your way to an area that has a new one waiting.

I have always regretted not picking up Zero Mission. Though I am no fan of stealth in games.

It's a fairly brief part of the game, and it's oh so worth it when you get to the end and get her new power suit, and get to run back through blasting all the guards you had trouble with on the way through.

Maybe I will need to correct my mistake of not owning it.

I just remembered this and bought it on ebay, so in a few days I'll be traipsing about Brinstar bombing for secret passages.

Played through Zero Mission and enjoyed it very much. But now it makes me want to add a Samus drawing to my already overfull schedule. I've wanted to do a pic of Samus in her full armor, but I don't think I have the patience for it, but maybe a zero suit pic...

I could get behind that. What's one more project on the pile, right?

Indeed.
I've started doing a first stab at Indian Muriel. I don't think it has quite the vibe I was going for, but I'm going to work on it for a bit before abandoning it for a new approach.

Surely my normal viewers will be scratching their heads at this one.

Though, I guess in Super Metroid - the game that is currently inspiring me - you almost never actually die, so probably the scenario wouldn't really get in the way very often. I just realized that's why Samus' death in that game is extra odd; you don't see it often at all, so when you do, it's unexpected a little more gruesome than most kid-friendly Nintendo games. But then, a lot of that game was fairly gruesome, and that's why we loved it!
