Thanks! Mostly I was glad just to have this one done, but I do like the kicking panel.
It has defied any previous version of my script. Candy going for the ladder was supposed to happen on the next page, but I really needed to get going through the sequence if it's ever going to end. I think I also must sacrifice some dialogue I had been planning for this particular bit, but it may be replaced by gratuitous nudity, so weigh your options and take your pick, I guess. I think I have a rough layout for the next page as well, but I probably won't be working on it much yet.

I've lived with the scene for so long, it's hard for me to tell how logical the sequence flows to eyes that haven't seen any of it yet.
I suspect it's not moving where people are expecting it to, but my work never has, and I always consider that a good thing anyway. I firmly believe that an audience should not be given what they want. That's boring. It's better to convince them that what I want is what they should want. And I'm fickle, so it keeps us all guessing. Anyway, it's my comic so I can do with it what I please!
I always knew there would be tweaking as I went on and the original script wouldn't exactly match the finished scene, but I think I've also been making some changes just to keep it interesting for me to draw. The most difficult obstacle for me in any extended venture is the boredom of knowing there is no more room for invention or variation, so the script was built with enough elasticity to allow for the mood swings I knew I would have during the long, long process of translating idea to tangible reality.

They were going to squirm around in the mud a bit first, but that really would just have been several panels of the same thing, and probably not very well done, so I opted for bigger movement.
I've been trying to simplify Candy's inner monologue, too, but the scene was constructed with it so it has to continue 'til the end. It's an inelegant crutch, and I don't like using it. After this scene I won't need it anymore, but I felt it had to be there in the beginning as the quickest way to set up motive and exposition using as little space as possible and being able to simultaneously jump right into the action. Starting in chapter two, since the setting and reasons for the characters to be there will have been established, I will be free to use only spoken dialogue.

It's a good move. As fun as it is to see them squirming around in the mud, it wouldn't really help the comic to just have several pages of that.
How many more pages do you think are in this chapter, before you hit the long-rumored chapter two?

Hard to tell how much is left, exactly, but maybe 5 more pages in the mud, then 3 or 4 more to wrap up. The end is dialogue heavy with the first appearance of Anesthesia and more post-match interaction between Spencer and Candy. So maybe chapter two will get started about March 2016.

There was originally supposed to be such an accident on this page, but with Miss Spencer's bikini. I was struggling with the page layout, so I have postponed it. I might just disappoint everyone and keep those bikinis on through the whole scene!
