Description
Just did this as a quick slap-dash. I was in a bad mood and art I'm finding is oddly cathartic for me.Not terribly pleased with the hair but I was focusing more on the two different light sources (campfire vs. moonlight/stars) and playing with the varying tones and colors. Kinda fun and I'm happy with how the lighting effects did come out, so yay!

I really liked how this came out. Am still trying to figure out the whole light source thingy. The moment I think I got it, I don't, lol...

Hm, I interpreted this two different ways and now am not sure how to respond! haha.
1 - you're figuring out the lighting source on my pic, in which case I obviously didn't make it very clear. Whoopsie! After all, I am still experimenting.
2 - you're figuring it out in your own art, in which case it's really just practice, experimentation, and staring at things and how the light hits them. I think the only reason I've got any grasp on it at all is because I studied photography in school and light is one of the biggest components in that.

naa, you made yourself clear on how you did it. my prob is me; i keep forgetting there's suppose to be a light source then from where its to come from, hehe.
relearning stuff sux!
see, it comes under the heading of ustacould, and just one of these days i just might could again, hehe.

Wow, no. I'd had no idea. (thinks i must be oblivious?) But man, that's good to know that you've recovered so well - that's some scary stuff. You back on top now for the most part or still on the road for a little ways yet? (if you don't mind me asking...)

oh, i thought everybody knew actually. then again i dun go round posting it everywhere either. and yea, was/is scary still in a way but aggravate much from having to relearn so much then retaining what i did relearn. its a pain. At moment am recovering from shoulder sugery that why i havent drawn in a while and my left handed typing is so crappy at the moment, lol.

Wow, no really, I wasn't aware at all. Sorry, but glad I know now. Man, I can't even imagine how much of a hassle, how frustrating that must be but it's awesome to hear how you're persevering so well. I had to do a bit of the same with extensive nerve damage down through my neck back and arms but that was really just learning to be ambidextrous (a lot harder than I thought it would be - it's utterly ridiculous trying to brush my teeth with my left hand, haha) so I can only guess how much more you'd have to push through all that.
Much respect, dear.

I just get so tired of the whole process of it all at times. But damn, dunno if I could deal with the nerve damage. They wanted to do surgery on right hand for carpel, I told them no.
And yea, the whole trying to do stuff with other hand total sux ass, it just dun seem to work .
And thank much, Hun, am not bout to give up just yet. I got people to piss off first!

You did a really good job with the firelight from below, and I like the way his eyes seem to glow in the dark. That's what really captured my attention right off the bat. ^_^

I think this is gorgeous. I think you did a really good job on it AND I can really see where you highlighted the fact that there is the fire below.

Well thank you. (You sure know how to ego boost, ne? haha) I'm slowly but surely learning how to digitally paint...maybe one day that'll even translate to drawing. Not likely but ya never know ^_-

The lighting DID come out really nicely! I think his hair is fine, though. ^^
I know the feeling, except I usually write when I'm in a bad mood, since I can't draw, lol.

Yeah, I can't draw worth crap which is why coloring other people's linearts is my salvation! ^_^
Writing does it for me sometimes but the things I'm working on currently just take too much concentration. Coloring can be somewhat mindless and numbing (although writing was like that for me at first so maybe it'll go in stages...?)
I'm glad you liked the lighting though. I'm slowly branching out and trying new things as art has always been an interest but not one I've been particularly talented at. So I'm glad to know I'm making progress! Thanks!

^^ Well, at least you can do that! LOL I did it once and decided never to embarass myself that way again, lol
Yeah, you are right about that. Depending on what you're writing, it takes a lot of concentration. Hell, I find stupid mistakes even when I had been really concentrating! When I do draw, though, it is cathartic, like you said. I just can't draw anything original, so I tend to stay away from it.
^^ Firelight at night is always beautiful, and some people don't get the whole "the other side is lit by stars/the moon" thing, so it was nice to see it. Who knows, maybe it'll help your drawing process? And you're welcome!
