Description Had lots of fun on this one, so huzzah for that. Played around a few different ways with the lighting. Not sure if I like the plain ground better or this version with light streaming in from all the different windows but I went with it.

At the end there I played around with the idea of Persephone for the background (around the window), how her presence changes the seasons of the earth - it comes alive when she's here for summer, then dies when she leaves to go to the underworld for winter. Hence the springy green on the left side (with the complete cityscape) and then fall's browns on the right with the decrepit and withered buildings.

WOW. You did amazingly! The picture is so complex, and so is your coloring! I love how you interpreted it - bountiful life on one side and ruin on the other - which goes with the title. And that cape looks great, but I think my favorite part is her luminous skin and the magic around the sword. Awesome job!

Well thank you so much! I really want to work on the lighting a bit more to make it more consistent and add some more effects - but then again I say that about a lot of works and never go back to them because there are always new things to dig into. So who knows ^_-

But glad you like. Yay!

Amazing Job! I love the lighting and shading that you did. I like the see through effect on the flowy fabric. The colors are great also, the aqua with the brown gives a wonderful effect. I like the brighter colors on the wonder side, and duller colors on the ruin side. *drools*

Yeah - the transparent cape was a pain since there was no lineart for what was behind her so I had to just paint everything in and hoped it matched - haha. But in the end I'm very happy with how it turned out and am glad that you are too. Thanks!

Fabulous

I have a few suggestions:

Seeing as there's a strong light source from behind her, even though it'll hinder some detail deliciousness, I think you should add a bit more darkshadow at her front. The lighting is a little inconsistent since her shadow's on the ground but her body's in normal lighting.

Yeah - I was kinda inconsistent with my idea of where the light was coming from. First I wanted it just backlit by the windows, then I wanted the sword to shine pretty strongly, then I decided she's actually in a mystical garden of sorts (or whatever you'd call the place she's stepping into) and that would have its own ambient lighting. Gah. (Schizo much?)

I wanted to darken up her front some more - at least so I could have the glow of the sword show up a bit more but ran out of time. Maybe that's another thing I'll go back and tweak though.

But hey, glad you still liked despite my lighting issues ^_- haha.

You did the glow of the sword really well. Generally, when I'm doing art, glowing from anything ends up a catastrophic orgasm of colours. >.>

If you do go back and tweak it, I'll await the update and commence the shower of praises.

I love this, but I wish you took more time on the hair. It needs more highlights IMO.

Sad part is I actually took a decent amount of time on the hair and the fur stole - just hadn't realized it would blend, blur, and mesh so much and lose the detail when sized down. Bah. I'll have to go back and fix that.

Thanks for the heads up and glad you like the rest ^_^

Ah that makes sense! Why what size did you have before? What program did you use?

Well it's posted here at 600xsomething and I was working on it at somewhere over 2000xsomething.

After voting's over and I feel like I can play with the pic without stepping on anyone's toes I'll probably go back and play with that some.

At least now I know it's something I need to pay more attention to when it's sized down.

Very nice use of color! Your choices go very well together. The green and brown halves and the blue and gray windows caught me attention. Nice mystic mists comes off the sword. Good work!

Well thanks my dear.

And yes - much love for brushes. I've begun to realize a well placed brush or two (for effects I really can't even begin to paint well yet) really do help. Yay help. ^_-
