Description
"In places deep, where dark things sleep, in hollow halls beneath the fells." -J.R.R. TolkienForgotten dungeons, moldering tombs, and crumbling keeps slumber beneath the earth, swallowed up by stone and time. Such places are perilous, but the knowledge and power hidden within is priceless to the right people. The danger in exploring them is more than often well worth the risk. Laumé, Cassus, and Lian enter an ancient cavern, in hopes of finding a lost artifact to aid them in their quest.
This piece was created in Manga Studio 5 using a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It presents original characters, creatures, and the world of In the Shadow of the Ancients. ItSotA is a comic project that I am working on with my husband, based on a tabletop roleplaying game campaign we ran over the course of years. It was a multifaceted adventure, that spanned multiple groups and branching storylines, and utilized Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon World, Torchbearer, and Pathfinder.

I'm glad I could take on our journey. As you can tell, concepts have changed and shifted over the years. It's been a long road for me to get to the point where I feel like I'm ready to make a comic. Hopefully that will be an even more rewarding adventure.

Nice work. You did a nice job with the contrast between the light sources and the darkness of the cave. It really creates the creepy feeling you get when you are in a small, dark enclosed area. I will say not one of them looks happy about being underground.
