EDIT 6/21/07: Now that I've gotten the new version of Inkscape with blur capabilities, I've updated this picture with a blur effect to increase the illusion of Fracktail fading into the background and created a little effect on Dimentio's magic blast. Fracktail is the first boss of Super Paper Mario. He is an advanced robotic dragon designed by the Ancients to guard the Pure Heart in Yold Desert, and pass it on to the legendary hero when he appeared. When Mario arrived, Fracktail was ready to fulfill his duty after fifteen hundred years of waiting- until a certain little jester showed up, and with a powerful blast of magic to the dragon's weak spot, completely fried his programming! Recognizing Mario no longer as the prophesied hero, but as only an enemy, Fracktail turned on the mustachioed plumber...

I rather like this one. Especially Dimentio up there. Hehe, he looks like he's enjoying himself. He does love his magic, and causing trouble.
The random rectangles are clouds. Yes. Lineland clouds.
The whole encounter with Fracktail is very humorous. He even makes an "I AM ERROR" reference! He's a very cool boss, and I've been wanting to do a picture of him for a while. (And I'm always up for drawing Dimentio again, of course.) So here you are!

This picture is #85 in the Vector100 Project, "Spiral!" [link] I think this is the first time I actually had the theme in mind when I was working on the picture... all the others I just finished according to my own whims and then fit into a theme later XD

Yowch, sounds like you have quite the workload x_x What a pain! I know the feeling of having so much work you can't even do art... I went through that this past year with Academic Decathlon, and it'll happen again the next two years. For a few months I was in this little study zone. I hardly had time to draw at all, or do many other things I enjoy. It's so sad when you have to sacrifice your creativity for work... but you know it's necessary...
Well, when your workload lets up a little, play SPM, it'll make you smile =3

Well to be honest, it's not that I don't have any time for creativity, but that I use all my creativity in the name of school, and then am all created out when it just comes to fun random arts so I never feel like doing them in the little free time I do have. I don't know if you knew or not, but I am majoring in studio arts xD So yes, I have done lots of arts, just schoolish fundamental stuff that I'm not sure if anyone wants to bother seeing (not to mention I don't have a good camera or giant scanner for propper uploads 
I do other work besides just artclasses, don't get me wrong, but I've been used to the busy schedules thanks to what I did all throughout highschool. It's just that when you have to dedicate over 30+ hours a week to homework JUST for art classes, it's sometimes hard to want to do more art xD I'm so lazy.
But, I'm on summer break now, so I will try give SMP a try :3 I know we're going to get the new Pokemon Staduim game for the Wii next week, um, whatever that was called... that means I should train my little Pokemon Pearl guys up past 20 so I can have fun with that too ^^' Do you have those games or plan on getting them? If you do, we could totally battle each other! Although you'd probably pwn my face because of my lack of playing xD

Oh, I see. Well at least you get to use your creativity in school. But I understand, with all that art you're required to do, I guess it kind of discourages you from drawing even more in your free time XD But I'm sure you'll benefit a lot from the art classes, and it seems you're doing great, too! Major congrats on that award! I'd love to see a bit of your work if you ever get the chance to take a picture of it. ^_^
I still don't know if I want to take art classes in college yet. I have no clue what I want to do with my life. XD I'll always be creating art, it's my passion, but I don't know if I could make a career out of it. Though it's always been my dream to write and illustrate my own books.... but that'll be something I approach on the side...

Yeah, I studied and overwork myself with tons of honors/AP classes all through high school, and learn as much as I could, but unfortunately, I never really decided much for what I should do for my future

Aww, if the default Pokemon are anything like the ones on the N64 games, they'd suck XD I swear, they had like... Venusaurs and Charizards that knew Tackle and Quick Attack... seriously. But the weaker, unevolved Pokemon had good moves. It was a ploy to make you use your own Pokemon because the default ones were so purposefully awful. <_<;

I don't remember them being THAT bad xD But yeah, there's definitely an advantage to using your own pokemon. If we do battle and the defaults suck hard core, I could use default too to make it not so one sided

Ooh, the fade-into-the-background effect looks good!
Um. On Dimentio's magic, this is what I reccommend: Make the radius smaller and the glow brighter, but make the spread bigger...does that make sense? Those are Photoshop terms, after all. I have no idea what it says in Inkscape.
It's also a bit uneven.

Erm...the radius is how far the glow spreads. The spread is how far the brightness spreads.
Like, your glow can have a HUGE radius and a small spread and it will be very pale. Reverse those, and you'll have a bright outline that's pretty small.

When I fought him for the first time, my brother and I couldn't figure out what to do for like ten minutes <_<; Then at last we realized you had to get on his back when he came by.

Yes, you can stay on him. When I fell off him, I noticed that before the screen changed, I saw his head again (he did a loop-de-loop). So, I tried this: when he speeds up to get you off his back, keep running in the same direction he's going in. Right before you reach the end of his tail, jump. If you do it right, you can land on his head again, and go for another round of hurting him. Keep doing this, and you'll never have to go through the dodging phase again. I employed this trick to beat his doppleganger, Wracktail.

Yeah, the final boss was... an interesting mixture XD Cool though. But he was actually pretty easy. I was just bouncing off his head repeatedly.

I know! And consider this: the boss only has 200 HP to begin with! That means 1 jump= 1/4 of his HP!

Bowser's great. He's sooo powerful! I used him whenever I could for bosses, but unfortunately, sometimes he just wasn't agile enough, and I switched to one of the others.

Yeah, I agree with you. Bowser made short work of MOST bosses. There were a few he just couldn't do.
Example:
Bowser vs. Count Bleck: nonononono 
Not only was he slow, but his jumping is horrendous. There was no way he could climb up thos platforms in time! Especially not when Bleck uses his slowdown move!

Yes, Count Bleck was quite more difficult than the actual final boss, because of how fast he moved. But I don't know if I've ever felt so bad to beat someone up in a game as I did in that battle!
