Description
Accidental rage face FTW!The ressemblence is uncanny... and totally unplanned. Kind of scary actually...
Another one!
I combined some of my favourite aspects of the last two paintings (them being blue/purple space and asteroids) and put them into a new painting with another alien dragon! I even tried to give it some texture too, which is something I've never tried before.
This is a female Kelkai, if you're wondering the males look like this:
I much prefer the colours and pattern of this girl, so I have to thank and who gave me some very useful links that helped me decide.
I'm thinking I might even make her a new character of mine, but I'm not sure yet. We'll see how it goes, if I do decide to draw her again, then she'll probably get a name and backstory, if not.... Then she'll still be pretty
The small shelled creatures are the kelkai's main food source, living on asteroids and grazing on the algal mats growing there (that's what the red patches are meant to be)
This also illustrates what the hands on her hind wings are for, this is the closest kelkai ever come to landing.
Please tell me what you think, because I'm really enjoying this line of artwork at the moment. I've even thought up more information about their biology and ecology, but I'll save that for a later date.
Enjoy

Aslkadfj this turned out frigging amazing. I'm telling you, your watercolors just keep getting better and better. One thing I can advise, is to never be afraid of going darker. I think if you made the space itself a darker blue, it would definitely make the dragon stand out. You know, just for future reference of course.
I do like how the asteroids came out on this one better. They look so fuzzy!
I can totally picture these just floating around nebulas, where their food source is more prevalent. l

Thanks, that's a good idea, especially since the last one was pretty similar to the background and some people couldn't make it out. I'd have to do more layers and I'm not sure what that would do to the patterning, but I'll give it a shot.
Thank you! I tried to add a bit of texture to them, they looked a bit odd just plain like the last ones.
I think they'd often be found there, in fact I think that's probably where they'd go to breed, because it would offer the young a lot of protection, as it's easy to hide in a nebula.

I'd love to see the outcome. I'm sure you'll do a splendid job.
You succeeded!
Ah, I like the idea. Plus, nebulas are too cool and beautiful to pass. AMIRITE.

Thank you! Probably, if they don't jump off or something, which could happen.
