All right, this was amazingly fun. What I have learned:
1. I will not open more than seven reference tabs. Especially if I've already memorized this character's design, anyway, and have his ref sheet hanging as a poster in my room. (I have Smellerbee's, too, if it makes it any less creepy.)
2. I will not abuse Gaussian blur.
3. I will not abuse the smudge tool.
4. I will actually put time and effort into BGs.
5. I will determine what time of day it is before I shade. (You're on your own in figuring that out, folks. I think maybe it's day and really cloudy...but that doesn't explain the sharp shadows...)
What's wrong, Jet? Did someone seriously and perhaps fatally wound your love interest and you're waiting to hear whether she'll survive?
Nahhh...that stuff only happens in soap operas...
Time: maybe six hours?
Tools: made entirely in GIMP.

I met Jet in the series a while back. 
Also I took the advice of my brother to "try it before I buy it", so I've been doing that with the series, buuuuuut.... I came to the conclusion yesterday---hm, technically two days ago actually---that I've tried it enough at this point, sooooooooo....
I used my moneybending powers to summon all three seasons on DVD to my house.
And now I want them to come faster so I can feed my newfound voracious fantardedness and.... make music videos or something. Oh gads it's like crack....

Jet is awesome. He's definitely my favorite character, even if it's so hard to pick. xD He's got such an interesting motivation, so different from the cliched Robin Hoods...

Also.... I do make AMVs. My YouTube username is the same. Omigosh SOOOOO hard to write HTTYD fics right now for all the SONGS filling my head and my brain whirling and going "OH! That would be PERFECT for this part!" or "GADS! That would be PERFECT for these characters!" or "BWAAAAA that would be PERFECT for the whole show!!!"

Always can. I have an idea for an awesome ten-minute AMV (I am for srs), but I have to settle for storyboarding pieces of it with screencaps because WMM still doesn't work proper xD Ugh, someday...SOMEDAY...I will be able to make these.

Haha, I watched episode 20 last night and then.... then.... Well, after that all I could do was kinda lay my face in my hands down on my desk for.... a while.

Yeah, minis are fun. Usually people make them when they've only just gotten into a new show and they don't have enough interesting clips for a really long one. Or, like I suggested, because the rest of the song didn't quite fit...
I've actually started the ten-minute one as a mini about Jet xD But now I've nearly finished the entire song, since it's just pretty much a storyboard and pretty simple to put together. It's just the end that's trouble because it's a long instrumental bit xD Hard to find the right pieces for that...
Arrrghh, yeah >.< I'm pretty good at improvising, though. Like, instead of masking or adding pretty tints (which obviously you can't do in WMM), I just edit the pictures myself xD
