These two kind of ran into uh... a lot of people trying to catch the halfling we saw watching Sorrel, and may have ran into a hay cart and lost him. And by that I mean Spook ended up in it.
The guards just wanted to talk to us (for causing a commotion and injuring some civilians; being shoulder checked by Sal is not good for your bones) at first, but Sal being Sal immediatley pulled their sleeve up to be like "I'm made of metal do you know what I am", which they did NOT appreciate - and this being a military fortress the first thought was like?? Are you some kind of weird intelligent golem this could be dangerous??? So they wanted to like. Properly question them. (Why we always let the robot with 5 charisma do the talking, rather than Spook and his 20, we will never know. Man has social anxiety and Sal loves to talk it just always goes this way)
So they cuffed Sal (they didn't really care what Spook did), and Sal telepathically told him to keep trying to find the halfling and they'd be fine
but well
When you give Spook the options of:
1) Leave Sal (which consistently seems to result in them getting hurt)
2) Go with the guards in Fort Weissrosen (something he was told many, many times to never do, because if they'd found him in the catacombs he would've been forced to leave)
Well, he's going to make option 3, which is cast darkness, grab Sal, and fucking BOOK it! End goal of the catacombs, because that's always the default, and he knew he could lose anyone down there.
oops
It led into a hilarious wild goose chase, which the other half of the party could see from their vantage point higher in the fortress and just went "you know what, they're fine, this isn't our problem today". It was mostly Spook being very hard to catch and repeatedly giving the guards the slip with magic - Sal tried to assist, but being cuffed made it hard for them to cast anything. Was great watching my DM's face; he was not expecting this nonsense today (I'm sorry, I love you!!)
