I hope this helps some people in learning some of the cool features in PaintTool SAI!

This is great! I've always wanted to use SAI but never got around to it. I could never figure out how to color lineart on photoshop.. maybe I'll just have to use this instead. ^_^

haha, you can use the same process in photoshop! As long as your lineart is kept on their own separate layers, select your layer, and at the top of your layers box, click on the "Lock Transparent Pixels" button. This will enable you to color only where the lineart is.

OH...you color your lines. Very nice and clean; I really like it. I've started using SAI and I love, LOVE the ink pen so MUCH!
I am working on new techniques, though...some people get results that I slobber over so thanks for posting this; it's nice to see different techniques!

thanx for the tut..................i'm using SAI for a couple of months now...............so its a little hard for me to get my head around "stabilizer setting","selection source","clipping group" and "preserve opacity"..........................so i do it without any of the above mentioned options

haha, I recommend spending some time messing around with these settings in a doodle, it'll help you to understand exactly what they do, and how you can use them to your benefit.

yes thank you ,i will spend some time on those settings..........but there is still a huge drawback as i do everything with my "computer mouse" and not an a "tablet", as i don't have one............
and on top of that, i don't know how to change the thickness of the lines( i mean gradual increase or decrease of thickness, not constant thickness )..............
can u do a tut on that one for "mouse users"

For mouse users, there's a handy tool in SAI that's called the Curve tool. it works kind of like Photoshop's pen tool, but it allows you to manually change the line's thickness using the pressure tool. (These tools only show up when you're on a linework layer) I don't know too much about it, so here's a good tutorial that seems to explain it pretty well: [link]
