Detective Lana Townsend was a rising star in Engine City PD. She helped take down two of the city's major crime families whilst still being considered a 'newly minted' detective, and was seen as the harbinger of a new generation of highly talented sleuths in the department. She still says that result was largely due to luck, but many have told her not to speak so little of her talents.

Talents that Hypnoman's growing horde of brainwashed women were eager to assimilate.

It happened when Sergeant Evelyn Micheal got her with a hypnotic projector whilst they were alone on an assignment. It was only the initial induction, but from that point forward, Lana served a mind controlling supervillain. She began compiling information on her cases for Chateau Svengali to receive, adding some of their custom made spyware to her phone and computer, and even began writing a list of women in her precinct who she considered desirable to brainwash at the first opportunity.

Her own brainwashing inducted her into the ranks of the Dream Police, the enthralled women in Engine City's law enforcement. And as such, her view of her detective work has taken a bizarre turn. She now sees herself as something more akin to an inquisitor now, and likes to think of the Dream Police as being something akin to Hypnoman's own secret police. Lana still wishes to combat crime, but her indoctrination now makes her see disloyalty to the shadowy villain as a severe offense for a woman of Engine City, one that warrants immediate arrest and re-education.

She will only admit such a thing to other Sleepwalkers, but Lana does occasionally wish she could arrest some of her female colleagues and take them to one of the hidden safe houses for 'treatment' in one of the subliminal conditioning pods, as a means of bringing them into the fold. The fact they'd protest or maybe even resist such a thing matters nothing to her. If Hypnoman wills it, she will do so.

To her, Hypnoman's will is now the true law.
