Description
The first of two in a series, this was one of my two (winning, whee!) entries in the 2007 ElfQuest Fan Art Calendar. This was chosen for July, my birthday month!This is the family of my favorite elf, Crescent. Going from Crescent, clockwise, you have: Spirit-Crescent, Dart (her living brother), Spirit-Bowki (Dart's son), Moonshade (her mom), Kimo (Dart's best friend/lovemate), Newstar (Kimo's mom), Chitter (her new baby sister), and Strongbow (her dad). Whew.
Both Dart's and Kimo's mom's are seamstresses, so for the "home and family" theme I jumped on the idea of them using poor, obliging Kimo as a coathanger.

When I realised that Bowki, with his wolf-blood, probably died centuries before Shards/Circle/SatS, I found that idea really depressing. D:

The proportions are amazing, and the depth, textures and rich colors are so striking. It's peaceful, loving, and of course humorous. Kimo is clearly wondering "Why did I let myself be talked into this?"

I'm currently rereading Elfquest borrowed from the libary here in town, but after seeing this, I'm really thinking about buying the parts of the story in englih that are not available in germany to read the story of some of the chracter here, because I never heard about some of the ones you describe in the picture.

Is Spirit-Bowki dead? and Chitter, is it the official EQ baby name? I didn't know Dart has a son or is it your character?

I love the baby Chitter on her grandpa Strongbow's chest. So cute!! So Strongbow can be really a softie when he wants to be.

We're pretty sure Bowki is dead...they never show his death, but he isn't alive in the most recent books. We only meet him briefly in one of the Barry Blair stories (the Forevergreen series), which I think are considered canon. And Chitter is the official name of the third child of Strongbow and Moonshade. We learned her name in the latest EQ comic.
Entries in the calendar are required to be canon, so I wouldn't be allowed to put my own characters in.

When did that happen? I'm so out of the loop. O.o Do you know what issues or whatever? I haven't been to a comic shop in years. I don't have one where I live. That means I have to go to another county but unfortunely it's sooo far away. I would appreciate it if you tell me. Thanks! I know I should get the one with Suntop, now Sunstream, on the cover with a water elf.
Hmm I'll have to re-read my Forevergreen again but it's hard to look since it's not done by Wendy. Must have not minded back then. Oh well.

Well, at the time I drew this, that was the assumption of the fan community over at the elfquest forums. But then Wendy Pini herself posted:
"As to the possible censoring of Dart and Kimo's relationship...goodness! What are you folks out there assuming? Dart had a male lovemate in the Sun Village, but we haven't explicitly indicated it's the same situation with Kimo"
So it may not be the case after all, but they are at the least extremely close friends.
