Description I've always wondered where the stork-delivering-babies story came from, it never made much sense to me. I guess, from a cursory look, storks, who nested very visibly in spring on/near peoples houses tended to be a symbol of fertility, so storks were thought to bring babies to women by their presence/luck. They also fly long distances and are quite large, so it all just fit together to become a myth popular even today.

I'm not quite sure this particular stork has a delivery in mind!

I read that the babies brought by stork was told by Hans Christian Andersen in some of his writings since these are known birds mate for life. Other people adopted it as a G-rate way of describing how babies come and thus the tradition came to be.

Yeah he wrote a lot of stories. Most of his contributions are still classics today.
