Description
The fox spirits were usually observing us mortals, occasionally guiding us, but rarely interfering. Exceptions, however, will always exist. I may never know why they healed me that day. I hope that one day, I will know. Though perhaps, some mysteries inspire more than their explanations.First time making a full digital drawing from a traditional sketch:Β fav.me/dc3oofw
I really enjoyed the process! It went pretty fast, too. Maybe if I find time I'll do this more often. ^^

The combination of traditional and digital works really well here! I like the playfulness in the textures between the background trees and the ground
It's a very cool concept with the little story attached

Thank you! The texture are from a brush I made myself! I haven't used it much lately, but it's fun for mild textures.Β

If you know what you're doing you can make some really cool custom brushes and shapes. Mine was pretty basic, but I've seen some cool stuff pop up in a speed painting group.

This is so much like traditional! Even your style seems quite the same. Is it Photoshop you're using? I like how the picture sort of speaks by itself what's happening there, trurly would like to know more about this fox - hero?

Yup, this is Photoshop.
The effect you see is 100% the result of a handmade (with a tutorial, though) brush, no real fancy things (unless handmade brushes in Photoshop are fancier than I thought).
You're not the first one curious about him by the way! I originally didn't have any intentions to think him out further, but seeing people curious makes me curious about what they like about him- which makes me think about him more, and that might eventually result in ideas.

Haha, well, I haven't figured the magic of creating my own tools in ArtRage yet, so to me all handmade digital brushes sound quite fancy. XD
Hmm, it's the scene of course, but especially the thing you mentioned in that snippet. Why they revived him? Who were they? Fox spirits, but do they have a deeper personality, interest in him? What happened to him that he had to be healed? Obviously something bad but in further detail? And yeah, why he carries a spear... something like that. X'D

I wasΒ like: this is digital? it looks so traditional! The textures are so paper-ish!

Haha, that's awesome!
I'm indeed trying to make my digital art have a traditional feel to it (because I have a weak spot for traditional art, heh).

How we afraid in something doesn't exist

Fear isn't really part of this artwork, but it's true that some fear things they do not need to fear. Probably to fit in (they might fear what happens if others notice they are publicly not afraid), or because they're scared of the 'what if's.

what do you mean afraid from what ?

Foxofwonders In reply to kamleh [2018-04-05 12:19:19 +0000 UTC]
I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean. I thought that by "How we afraid in something doesn't exist" you meant that some people have irrational fears, so I said that's not relevant to this artwork, but I agree with your point by itself.

That's a massive compliment, haha. That's precisely the look I was going for. (Some people even added this to their 'Traditional art' collection in their favourites. It's funny, in a way.)

)
