Description *gasp*
Pixel art AND a human? Yes, something totally different for once.

This is Innes from Fire Emblem (the Sacred Stones), which I obviously don't own (design included).
Still, pretty happy with the result!

On a side note, I've actually drawn Innes before in a piece called 'Sure Strike', which as of now is still my piece with the most comments.

Pixel archer! Don't own the game either, yet. That looks super nice!

This is a well done and well made sprite.
A really good job on this one.

This is perfection. I was actually surprised to see a human and pixel art from you. xD
I'm planning to get back into pixel art, mostly to create animated sprites and a journal / page doll. Lets see how that goes...

This is very neat! You managed to get in a surprising amount of detail considering the size of this thing! I think you did an excellent job with this c:

Is this your first time pixeling? How long did it take you to make?

I've been making 16x16 pixel art before for a game my boyfriend and I have been working on (for a bit over half a year now), but this is my first time making 'large' pixel art (this version is twice as large as the original because otherwise it'd be a little small to show, original is 59 x 80 pixels). 16x16 is so bloody difficult, you get no detail there. :')

This took a pretty big chunk of the evening, I think about 4.5 hours.

(I have no words to describe how ashamed I am by how late this reply is)

That sounds so cool! Want to elaborate on some details of the game? Like what genre is it and how do you split the rest of the work with your boyfriend (do you both program or make art or whatever)?

You're only 3 months late, haha. :'D
(No worries though, I had completely forgotten about this comment thread and now I'm just positively surprised, haha.)

It's going to be a dungeon crawler/roguelike in Harry Potter theme (so a fan game. I'm not really a big fan, but my boyfriend is). It's called Pottered Pixel Dungeon if you're interested in keeping up to date with the social media pages, haha. I just do pixel art, he does the programming, and a friend from university is doing the music. Honestly I probably won't do something like this again since I'm horrible thinking about interface design or gameplay elements (very stressful), and I really prefer being able to add more detail in my art, even pixel art (16x16 is frustrating). But still, I'll finish the project, and then I hope people will enjoy it anyway.

Yeah, the reply had just been sitting in my inbox for three whole months and I kept going "I'll reply to that when I have the time" when really I have all the time in the world and I'm just lazy and once it got to like a few weeks old it felt almost like it was too late to reply but I finally grabbed myself by the neck and did it xD

That sounds very interesting! I enjoy the Potter franchise but I'm not a huge fan either. I definitely get the point on 16x16 pixel art being incredibly frustrating, I can't really even imagine trying to make anything fit into such a small space. How close to finishing the game would you estimate you guys are? I noticed from the Reddit page that you plan on releasing in 2019.

Yup! I think we're at about 35% of the total game right now? (Or 3.5/5 of the demo) The release will just be a demo release though (the game will have 7 blocks, and the demo is only the first). However, we do want to have all mechanics figured out before the demo release, so I think the demo will be roughly half the work of the entire game. We originally hoped to get it done this summer, but figuring out the mechanics was something we really couldn't do, so now we found a volunteer game designer who can finally help us advance with that.

I see! I really know nothing about game design but I can definitely see why you'd want all the mechanics to be in place by the demo release so it's really great you found some help.
