Description Hm... another test, yes... are you asking "omg, why do he only create tests" and the answer is: this is the way i learn to create things XD

But this is my new system for walking/coliding to make a new rpg game. The last ones were more bugged and became slow on some computers. This one is fast (i hope) and simpler than the other ones. And this time i finally created a system to define a NPC route... i just define a variable like "walk = neeensen" and he will walk like that XD there is also r that is random and x that is "wait 1 turn"

I don't know what I will do with this system YET, but i'm thinking on making a RPG using the storyline that i'm keeping for this ocasion for 5 years >_>" OR... creating an interactive flash to anyone create your own "short rpg". The problem on the second option is "how to save the game that i created?" XD So i'm still analizing.

Oh! let me explain what's happening on the screen: the yellow and the blue guy are walking randomly (yup, their route is only "r") while the red guy is following a defined path (sssennnw)
And the green guy is controlable. Just use the arrow keys to move him around.

I made this in 3 hours (4:00 AM to 7:00 AM XD)
I was testing any possibility and checking new bugs until it worked! *__*

Next step will be the interactivity with the NPC's ^^

PS: I selected the category to be "interactive" since it's not a game YET. It's just a number of color squares walking randomly and >>interacting<< with the player >_>"
If i'm wrong then tell me ^^

AH! i almost forgot! if you want to post the link anywhere, use the [link] so if i change the name of the deviation the link will not break ^^

*EDIT 1*
OK! some interactivity with other npcs added ^^ now if you press ENTER facing them, they'll look you for some seconds and then re-take their movements. It's a bit bugged but i'll fix it, and them i'll just have to replace the "waiting time" with the script (talking script, battle, anything...)

*EDIT 2*
Now more interactivity, if you click on the squares they'll change the colors, and you can change the character graphics by clicking it ^^

PS: charsets imported from RPG MAKER XP they're not mine. I'm just testing ^^

Someday, I want to make a flash RPG.

I've been wondering about how to do save-games in flash too. I thought about making some sort of text-file that people could copy and paste..

OOO so u a RPG Maker fan, to!! I personally cant decide whether i like 2003, or XP they both have great qualties, I hated VX and 3 for PS2.

FoxRichards In reply to KnebulaNight [2008-04-26 21:55:31 +0000 UTC]

my favourites are the 2k3 and VX (except for the chipset limitations, but everything else is good ). RPG maker xp sucks, i could'nt create good games with that. The entire system was really strange. The only thing that i liked it was the limitless characters/chipsets/icons, etc...

I prefer 2003 and xp i tried the trial of VX, it was meh.
I like XP due to more customization, like i made my very own scan attack.

Good work on the engine, keep going at it. Where did you get your collision detection code from? (or the theory behind it anyway), ive been trying to make some but can't work out how to do it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FoxRichards In reply to Agret [2008-02-24 13:29:39 +0000 UTC]

i created it... or re-created it xD
each square may colide or not, so i just used an array to check where are the colisions.

do you have any of the code you wrote? i know you said you lost the other one.

Really like it. Only glitch is if two units move into space at same time. Either you and AI or AI and AI (if you force the AIs paths together)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FoxRichards In reply to Grey-Frog [2008-01-03 17:00:23 +0000 UTC]

I noticed it ^^" I'm still deciding what will define who will have priority Maybe npc over player... but when it comes to 2 AI... >_<
But thanks for helping. ^^
