Description
Now I don't know if this is allowed, given that the original sprite is from Fire Emblem and is thus the property of Nintendo. This tutorial uses the sprite merely as an example and I take no credit for the spritework. That being said, I hope this helps you in your sprite editing.References to the picture and NovaInferno are based on Galadoria Online.

I assume you're using paint.
Now that the actual comments are done, I will condense my feelings into seven words.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I just decided to try sprite editing on a whim. This is perfect.
Sorry for the necropost, BTW, but this was the top result on google and I'd rather not leave without a comment.

Wow! It's fantastic to know that I'm up there on Google.
Thanks for the comment. It's always nice to know that even years later this is still helping someone.
And yeah, best thing about Paint is that it's free.

Generally a sign of well-knowness. Good or bad is another matter.

SpriteArt.com [link] isn't too bad. Also, you could check out my other sprite editing tutorial: [link]
Good luck though. Spriting really is an art unto itself.

Fire Emblem Planet is the main one. Just do a search for "Game Sprites" and you'll find heaps.

Was this done using Photoshop? Because I'm using crappy ol' Paint and can't get that recolor shortcut to work :-/

Nope, this one was done on MSPaint. Here's how you do it:
- two colours: Colour A (the old colour) and B (the one you replace it with)
- select the eyedropper tool
- left click with it on Colour A
- right click to select Colour B
- select the eraser tool
- go over the image where you want to change A to B by holding down the right mouse button

Thanks for the quick reply, but I somehow managed to figure it out XD As it turns out, I needed to have the color I wanted it changed to already on the image. Thanks anyways, though

If you've saved it as a .bmp before editing it, you can use any colour you want. ^^

Ooh, that's cool ^-^ This will come in useful when making siggies! *bwahaha* yay ^O^
I've always done it the improper way, like, just making the image bigger in paint and slabbing whatever color I felt like so unprofessional ._.
