My Gai WONT get out of his house to pick ANYTHING, he'd rather have baby Simeon stealing it.
I've resigned, as Gai is very depressed and scared (he was hurt by a human animal months back, so I keep him in a cage that has virtually no hideys to check on him and cuddle him)

He purrs a lot when I cuddle him, but sometimes he squeals in pain
It's good to know that the trash who did this is paying direly for it.
Always the sweet fraidy furball, my Gai. I simply feed him in his housey I made myself for him (I joke he's Obama: black in a white house XDD ) He does something really funny: he pulls the hidey TOWARDS his feeding dish and pulls only the head out to reach for his pellets. Smart piggy eats "at home" XDDD

"I joke he's Obama: black in a white house" i lol'd so hard
my poppy does that too, pulling their log hideaways towards the food. if i catch her in the act, i flip it off of her and tell her that i don't support such laziness

And he supports a health reform too: less exercise and more food!
Cavies, like most rodents, are scaredy and fond of darkness they need hidey holes to feel safe, especially as they grow up (they are usually meat at 2 years old in the wild)And if food is close, much better!

Haha thats adorable!
I love when they do it. XD My other piggy, Romano is a sort of... backwards turtle. He HATES his pigloo standing the right way up and flips it over. If I dare turn it back over again he flips it again. XD

whenever i do put it out of her reach (like the opposite side of the cage lol), she'll poke her head out then go, "nope," and go back in the pigloo until i move it closer

Mine does the exact same thing! Either that or she'll come out, grab the food, do several laps of the cage before faceplanting into the wall.
