Description
Extermaknit! Here stands a terrifyingly cute dalek at 26cm tall!
For christmas I'm knitting up a load of pressies rather than buying them (do you notice how the shops have the same garbage in them every year?)
Unfortunately, this guy doesn't have a home as his original recipients girlfriend turned round and told me he didn't like that particular dalek pattern, after I had finished the bobble part of the dalek.
Pattern can be found here - [link] - and my version only has one small alteration, for the base I did the following:
row 2 - K/P into every stitch (228sts)
row 3 - P (228sts)
row 4 - P2tog whole row
Continue as the pattern states. This is because the base is really round in the pattern and I wanted a slight ridge round the base, the photo doesn't do a very good showing said base, but it is there now!
Thanks to ~Al-Glitch for lending me the camera again!

Aw, if I was her I would've accepted it! I can't knit, so it looks super difficult for me, PLUS it's a goshdarn Dalek! X3

The concept is cool, but it's pretty lame. Not saying I can do better, but it is still pretty lame. lol

(Spoiler...ish?)
I wonder if this would work with the new bright daleks!
But wow. That must've taken a while to finish with all the extra little bits on it!

It did take a while, but not as long as you might think. there was a lot of time waiting for the autoclave where I worked on him during my dissertation.
And the pattern would work for the new bright coloured daleks, a little tweak here or there...

Ah, a wise use of time! c: Makes the waiting go by faster too.
May have to try just that. The blue one is calling me.
I was almost hoping one would be pink. xD Truly terrifying.

Lol, he's found a good home now so alls right again in the world, I will admit I felt a bit snubbed at the time but I enjoyed making him and, as I'm realising more and more these days, any excuse to make something fun is better than none!
I miss making random presents for people...
Thanks for the fav btw!

You're very welcome. If he still didn't have a home I would have asked if we could do a trade

No, he's homeless still, I'm planning on selling or trading him at some point, if anyone is interested!
I'm glad someone shares my opinion regarding the pattern!

I find that quite impressive; I've only seen patterns for crocheted daleks (which I haven't managed to get around to making yet) and it seems to me that a knitted one would be far more trickier to do!
Well Done!

I'd disagree, crochet would be harder, but thats because I can only crochet a chain...

There is a tardis pattern out there, I'm thinking of knitting it at some point in the future (I have far too many dr who obsessed friends)
