Fireheart watched Tigerclaw turn to the nursery, his eyes locking on the one cat he didn't speak to yet. He was out of options, scrambling for any semblance of a ally to come with him.

Goldenflower sat next to Speckletail, her tail wrapped around Bramblekit and Tawnykit protectively and her face devoid of emotion. Fireheart felt his fur prickle at the sight of the tom kit; so much like his father, like a small echo of the powerful warrior.

"Goldenflower" Tigerclaw's voice came out as a smooth hiss. "Our kits deserve better than this clan of weaklings. They will never treat them or you with the respect that their blood comes from. Come with me, and I will train them to be the strongest cats in the forest."

Fireheart felt his heart jolt as the golden queen rose to her paws. Her two kits rose with her, their eyes full of confusion. Was Goldenflower going to leave with the kits?!

"How. DARE. you." Goldenflower hissed, taking a sudden step towards the muscular tabby. Tigerclaw flinched back, and Fireheart couldn't blame him as he saw the fire burning in the queen's gaze.

"How dare you even think I'd ever come with you!" She continued, baring her teeth. "I will never betray my clan, and I will never let you see these kits again. You're nothing to me, Tigerclaw. Not my mate, not my clan mate- nothing."

Tawnykit and Bramblekit waddled after her, looking frightened. Goldenflower blocked the two bundles of fluff from Tigerclaw. "Now get out. Thunderclan has given you a blessing to spare your life."

I really wish Tigerclaw and Goldenflower interacted during his banishment. And I see all this fanart of Goldenflower being all weepy over Tigerstar's sins and all that, but I always loved how strong she was in the books.
