Wishpaw looked around. "Lets play detective and try to find him!" Wishpaw yowled, barreling toward the entrance of the den. Mistypaw hesitated. "My mentor told me not to leave the den though" She meowed, lowering her ears and taking a step back

"Come on, he can't keep you in here all day" Hopepaw mewed, trotting a few pawsteps ahead. "As long as we don't leave camp, it can't be that bad." Birchpaw, meanwhile, was hiding behind dirtplace. He knew the two she-cats too well, knowing they'd come looking for him

"Well....alright! but if he gets mad I'm blaming you!" She purred, trotting out of the den, the scents and sound were always so strange to her when everytime she left the den. "Alright team, now if I were a Birchpaw where would I hide..." Wishpaw meowed, stalking low to the ground. "I know! He's prolly with Icefur!" She meowed

"Most likely. Or he could be with Softfur or Cloudpaw" Hopepaw added, following her sister. Icefur was outside the warrior's den, conversing with one of their clanmates, but the familiar silver tom was nowhere near her

"Hm, I don't see him anywhere, where did he go?" Wishpaw meowed. Mistypaw followed the shecats eagerly. She suddenly stopped, picking up his scent. "Wait, I smell him!" She chirped, scenting the air. "I think he went that way!" She meowed, pointing with her tail toward the dirt pileΒ

"Hah! You've got his trail, Mistypaw!" Hopepaw giggled, crouching down and stalking towards the dirtplace. Birchpaw pricked his ears a moment too late- a flash of brown and a squeak, and the medicine cat apprentice was pinned under the larger she-cat

"Hey you found hhim! you're real good at this game Mistypaw!" Wishpaw chirped, bowling over her sister and Birchpaw. Mistypaw skidded to a halt, carefully maneuvering through the tunnel but still doing her best to keep up with the others

"Guys, c'mon!" Birchpaw squealed, wiggling out from under Hopepaw. "I've been up all day! I don't wanna play!" Hopepaw wiggled her butt and said, "Birch-pile! Birch-pile!" The tom's eyes grew wide, and he raced out of the tunnel

"Hey no fair! We just got in here, get back here Birchy!" Wishpaw yowled, racing out after him. Mistypaw, who had just gotten to them, quickly moved out of the way as Birchpaw and Wishpaw went thundering past. "Hey wait for me!" She called, running after them

Hopepaw waited for Mistypaw to run out, then tore after her littermate. Birchpaw squealed as he was chased around the clearing, cats stopping to watch in shock or to laugh

"You can't hide from us Birchy! We've been waiting all daaaaaaay for you to play!" Wishpaw called, quickly making ground on the small cat. Mistypaw did her best to keep up but she eventually slowed to a stop. She would wait for them to catch him before getting involved again.

Birchpaw made a dash for the warrior's den, but Hopepaw body-checked him before he could. He went sprawling in the dirt, legs spread out like a newborn deer

Wishpaw rushed after them, pouncing on the smaller apprentice. "I got him I got em!" She yowled triumphantly. Mistypaw raced over, her blind eyes were wide with excitement. She was so excited that she hadn't payed enough attention to where Birchpaw was and accidentally tripped over him

Birchpaw cried out as more cats piled onto his tiny body. "Guys, get offf!!" He whined, his claws sinking into the earth

"No way! We won fair and square!" Wishpaw meows. Soaking in the victory. Mistypaw scrambled to her paws, shaking out her fur.Β

"You know what that means!" Hopepaw purred, while Birchpaw's eyes widened. "Everyone tickle him!" She mewed, kneading him rapidly with her paws

Wishpaw didn't hesitate to join her sister, kneading him as fast as she could. Mistypaw wasn't really sure how to join in so she stayed put for the most part.

Birchpaw broke into giggles and tried to squirm from their grip. "You can't run, Birchpaw!" Hopepaw laughed evily

"Ahhh! Mom!!" Birchpaw mewled, and Hopepaw rolled her eyes. Icefur popped out of the warrior's den and dashed over in a flash, saying. "Hopepaw! Wishpaw! Get off of him this instant!"

"Thats not fair! Hopepaw started it!" Wishpaw huffed, her black tail flicking back and forth in annoyance. "It's good for him to get excited, being cooped up all day in the medicine cat's den must be booooring" Wishpaw meowed

"Did not! You were the one so eager to wake him up!" Hopepaw shot back, swatting her sister. Icefur helped Birchpaw to his paws and licked his head, before turning to Wishpaw. "Birchpaw choose the path of a medicine cat. Granted, it's good for him to play occasionally, but he also needs rest so he can take care of his clanmates" Hopepaw nodded, then froze. She turned her head, having an odd feeling she was being watched

"Oh please you act as though playing is a bad thing, if he sits in his den sorting herbs all day he'll go crazy" Wishpaw meowed, rolling her eyes. On the other side of the camp a familier dark shadow sat, having just come back from a patrol, his amber eyes met Hopepaws, they were dark and unreadable.Β

The brown she-cat's eyes narrowed and she sunk her claws into the dirt as she glared back at him. "i-I won't! Sorting herbs are fun!" Birchpaw spoke up, resting his head on his mother's shoulder

The dark warrior narrowed his eyes. The grey shecat he was speaking with blinked, glancing at Hopepaw puzzledly before turning back to Flintear again, who had turned away from Hopepaw. "Yea you way that now but you'll get tired of it, everybody does, sides, herbs are boring and looking at them too long is bad for your eyes!" Wishpaw replied.

"It's not!" Birchpaw protested, shaking the dust out of his fur. Hopepaw stifled a growl and turned back to the conversation, interrupting her sister's comment. "Hey, I don't want either of you going anywhere alone, okay?"

Wishpaw tilted her head, "Why not?" She asked, clearly ill informed about the situation. "I know you're worried about the dogs but no one's seen them since the attack remember?" Wishpaw meowed. "Don't you worry sis, I'm the best apprentice remember?"

Birchpaw's ears went back, and he stared at his paws. "It's that brother of Stonewhisker" Hopepaw growled, her eyes scanning the clearing. "He tried to attack me and Birchpaw earlier today."

"What? Why would he do that? Isn't it against the warrior code?" Wishpaw asked, leaning in closer as to not be heard.Β

"He's made because I got all snarky with his brother for being a mouse-dung head" Hopepaw snorted. Birchpaw shuffled on his paws and said, "y-You really shouldn't have said those things to begin with. You were very mean"

"And he shouldn't have sent his brother after you!" Wishpaw spat, her fur bristled and her eyes wide with anger. "Where is this 'brother of Stonewhisker'?I'll rip his fur off!" She growled

"n-No! There's no need for that!" Birchpaw squeaked, his tail puffing up. "We've gotten into enough trouble as is, I'm sure we can find a peaceful way to resolve this!" Hopepaw unsheathed her claws and threw her head back. "Yeah, I'm sure that'd end well. 'Oh Flintear, we're ever so sorry for being worthless piecesΒ of carrion to you!'"

"Birchpaw there are times to be peaceful and times to beat up whoever was mean to you, this is that time!" Wishpaw meowed. "So which one of these cats is it?" She asked, looking around the clearing.

"That one" Hopepaw growled, spotting the tom across the clearing. "n-No! I won't let you get yourself in trouble again!" Birchpaw hissed under his breath, and took off towards the tom, surprising Hopepaw

Flintear, who was still in deep conversation with Rainspots, glared at Birchpaw as he approached them. Rainspots nodded to Birchpaw and Flintear before leaving the dark tabby with the apprentice.Β

Birchpaw skidded to halt and exclaimed, "Flintear, I wanted to apologize for Hopepaw's-" His words were cut off as Hopepaw jumped clear over him and braced herself between the pair

Flintear glared down the small grey tabby. He was about to reply when Hopepaw jumped in the way, further irritating the dark tabby. He didn't say anything, his gaze was unreadable.

Hopepaw hissed aggressively as her sister skidded to a halt beside her. Birchpaw opened his mouth to speak again, but a dark paw covered his mouth

Flintear looked over the hostile cats, seemingly unfazed by the apprentices. "What is this..." He growled, his dark tail tip flicking irritably. He looked suspiciously at Birchpaw and Hopepaw, ignoring Wishpaw's presence all together

"We're stopping you before you can hurt us" Hopepaw snarled, unsheathing her claws. Birchpaw shook his friend's paw off his mouth and cried, "n-No! We came to apologize!"

Flintear narrowed his eyes. "Is that so..." he meowed, his fur remained smooth and he kept his ears and tail still. "Go on then, humor me" he meowed, turning his attention to Birchpaw

"I- w-We wanted to say sorry for saying such mean things about s-Stonewhisker" He said, raising himself up as much as he could from under Hopepaw. "i-I know everyone is really stressed out and stuff, b-but we're all very grateful that s-Stormclan let us shelter here."

"I see..." He meowed, his voice giving off no indication of believing them or not. "So tell me little rat" He meowed, his amber eyes focused solely on Birchpaw. "Are you truly sorry for what you've said? or are you just trying to save your own hide?" He meowed. looking over the smaller cat.

Hopepaw let out a guttural snarl and lowered herself more, trying to hide Birchpaw from sight. Birchpaw wiggled around and managed to squeeze his way out from under her, skidding in front of Flintear. "I am sorry. I do really trust Stonewhisker; he's my mentor for the time being, and if you're his brother... I trust and forgive you too" He mewed, giving him a small smile.
(OMG I drew the thing and Birchpaw is so sticking small. Like he's half the size of Hope)

The tom watched Hopepaw, then he looked back at Birchpaw." Nice try little rat, you're not a bad actor, but even an untrained Stormclan cat like me can see you're just afraid of me, and maybe you should be, who knows...." He meowed, his voice ominous. "Well, I best be off, this was a lovely chat really" He sneered, flicking Hopepaw with his tail before trotting off through the tunnel with Rainspots

Birchpaw was trembling from nose to tail tip, but he swallowed and kept his head up as the big tom passed. Hopepaw aimed a swipe at Flintear as he passed, but didn't make contact. She whipped her head around to Wishpaw and said, "Stay with him, I'm telling Whitestar."

Wishpaw lowered her ears, her confidence seemingly vanished. "Wait! Hold on a second!" Wishpaw meowed, blocking her sisters path. "Telling Whitestar might make things worse for us" She meowed. She glanced around, making sure no one was listening before continuing. "We're in his camp, Whitestar can't punish him remember? and besides, what if he gets even angrier at us for taddling?" She asked quietly.

"What are you saying?!" Hopepaw shot back, her tail whipping back and forth. "First we had that mouse brainΒ Brackenpaw attack us, now Flintear's threatening to do worse and refusing to forgive! If we don't tell him, we're gonna be much worse off!"
