Now, before acting like a fucking dumbass, read the entire description.Why? It taught us values.
Granted, it may have but it also taught us hatred and intolerance towards people, see the big past for example, salem witch trials, Templar crusades.
It won't get rid of anything!
Yes, it may not but it would get greatly reduce bigotry, racism, sexism and all the other things, and we'd be less divided. And yes, there'd still be jackasses around like Stalin for example but at least less people would've died, because we'd have less motivations for things like the Holocaust, WBC, etc.
And what would this exactly accomplish?
We'd have advanced research, space travel, cures for deadly diseases (stem cell research), ability to regrow limbs (stem cell research) and many things stem cell research would have.
And what would we lose?
Holidays and death tolls, to be honest, it sounds like a fair trade, especially since I don't celebrate holidays.
I'm not saying that religion has caused all problems, I'm just saying that we could do without it because mankind used it wrong, and if you want to do it right, just focus on love and tolerance (no pony reference intended) instead.

If you get rid of religion, something else will inevitably come along and take its' place. It's human nature to have faith in something, be it religion or faithlessness itself. In the end, better the devil you know.

How about accepting everyone while practicing whatever religion you want? Is that too much to ask?
Of course, there's the argument that by practicing religion, you can't do that. But I feel that taking parts of religion and then still being open-minded is best. But most people either go all in or not at all.
I'm anti-religion because I want people to stop being bigots, racists, etc. I believe in equality. That's the only reason I hate religion. If people are religious but are also good to everyone and do good, then I have no issues. Unfortunately, not everyone is. And that's why I have issues. It's not the religion so much the interpretation of the religion's teachings. I get the feeling that the religious teachings were changed to involve bigotry and all that. :/ Idk tho.

Wow, such a pessimist. You've looked at all the bad thing you see about religion and you say it's why it should be removed. Thing is, it's the people. People are the ones using God and religion to do terrible things and get away with it.
But I don't know if we'd even come THIS far without religion. Religion still gave us the sense to not go around and kill everyone in sight just for funsies. Having the belief in a divine power has also given us more meaning to our lives. And seeing your other stamps, you really do not understand religion at all. Feel free to move to North Korea. Religion isn't allowed there (unless you count the mass worship of the reign of the leaders). It is really bad when religious texts are used and any teaching that undermines the government there. Heck religion has been banned and severely restricted before multiple times. Yet societies problems didn't go away. In many cases it got worse. Certain traits of human nature like greed and pride are the problem not religion itself. That becomes as dumb as banning a sport or game unless it is being done in a way that is harmful.

I'm a Christian myself, so I may sound pretty biased, but I think instead of abolishing religion altogether it would be smarter to try to abolish corruption in those religions. Because face it, it has done a lot of good. And if religion is what's going to drive someone to help others and be a better person, then why would you take it away from them?

I always said that religion should never have existed, but if it was, the people who were believers would still be alive and here, they'd just have no knowledge of such a ridiculous thing. Basically, what I mean is that we don't want the religious people to die or disappear at all, we just want the indoctrination to vanish.
I also have lovely friends who are christian and, as much as I despise what they believe in, I would never want them to disappear because of it.

Hey, I'm just going to share my opinion, if that's okay?^^ You know, you don't need to believe in an afterlife to believe that you'll see your loved ones when you die. As an anti-theist, I certainly do NOT believe in heaven or hell, but I do believe that I'll see all my friends, family and all the people that I like where we end up just because.
