Description
Now, before acting like a fucking dumbass, read the entire description. Why? It taught us values.
Granted, it may have but it also taught us hatred and intolerance towards people, see the big past for example, salem witch trials, Templar crusades.
It won't get rid of anything!
Yes, it may not but it would get greatly reduce bigotry, racism, sexism and all the other things, and we'd be less divided. And yes, there'd still be jackasses around like Stalin for example but at least less people would've died, because we'd have less motivations for things like the Holocaust, WBC, etc.
And what would this exactly accomplish?
We'd have advanced research, space travel, cures for deadly diseases (stem cell research), ability to regrow limbs (stem cell research) and many things stem cell research would have.
And what would we lose?
Holidays and death tolls, to be honest, it sounds like a fair trade, especially since I don't celebrate holidays.
I'm not saying that religion has caused all problems, I'm just saying that we could do without it because mankind used it wrong, and if you want to do it right, just focus on love and tolerance (no pony reference intended) instead.

I feel like it was a good way to unite us when we still were basic, and we would lose a lot of missionary trips that really give vital help to other countries, but at the same time, there are many bad things that would stop when it is gone (its inevitable) so I'm torn.

This stamp is cringeworthy. Clearly the creator neglects that:
>Only %7 of all wars in history combined have been fueled by religion. In fact the first Crusade was the only real Crusade not fueled by political, economic, and social turmoil. (Burning of Constantinople anyone? You know, when devote Christians attacked other devout Christians? )
>Josepf Stalin, Mao Zadong, the Kim family, Poe Pot, and plenty of others have committed genocide without religion. (I can argue all day that Hitler wasn't a Christan, but I would like to give the conclusive examples.)
>Sir Issaic Newton, Louis Pascal, and even Werhner Von Brahn (the guy who made NASA) were all religious.
> Charles Darwin himself believed in God and even stated that he believed God created evolution.
>68-70% of all Nobel Peace Prize recipients are religious.
>Dr.Martin Luther King Jr, enough said
>Ghandhi, enough said.

There's a lot of messed up things in many ideologies, as for the fact that the Bible was written during some very Eridanus and deadly times. (Egyptian Empire to Roman Empire were not very pleasant time periods to say the least.) In fact, up until the modern decade has the world actually calmed down with how crazy it is. The Bible was written around the Egyptian and Roman Empires, both of which were known to be very oppressive, (even if they did have rights and laws, a lot of times they also were hypocrites as well.)

Eh, that's implying God would think like we do, plus there is also the Devil who is the root of all evil. Thus, unless you're talking more about the Old Testament, that really would be the devil's fault instead of God. Two forces, a force of order and benevolence, and a force of chaos and malevolence.

It's not that the devil kills, but he causes people to fall into sin which causes their lives to ruin.Β Plus, the way he works is that he uses various methods. Drugs, warped ideologies, the lack of decency, lust, pride, ect. The devil is a manipulator.

//Uh butΒ
isn't this pretty hypocritical?Β
I meanΒ
people get mad at Catholics/Mormons/etc. for "shoving" religion down other people's throat.Β
I mean yeah, I won't deny that some of us do.Β
ButΒ
now atheists are trying to shove atheist beliefs down our throat.Β
And all I'm saying isΒ
that really isn't how the world works.
I am a Catholic and I used to hate gays, atheists, satanists, etc.Β
But I was educated
and I've finally come to terms that's its okay to be gay, and I've accepted myself as a lesbian
and some of the best people I know are atheists, and I understand that's okay because not everyone has to believe in my God
and I know that real satanists aren't sacrificing kittens to Satan.Β
So what I mean is
educating the religious people is better than trying to ban religion.Β
Honestly, with out religion I would be a terrible human being, so you can't say it's all bad.

Atheism is the truth. So shoving the truth down your throat is just educating you. Religion shoves lies, hate and bigotry down peoples throat. See the difference?
π: 0 β©: 1
AVOlD In reply to LightningAxe1000 [2016-09-17 15:43:32 +0000 UTC]
You can't say athiesism is the truth I'm afraid. You can't disprove the existence of God- you can't disprove the existence of anything for that matter.
But you can PROVE the existence of something, not that the existence of God has been proven yet, I know it hasn't.
Shoving things down people's throats is wrong in the first place and it makes people resent the thing more. It's not educating people. You're thinking just like the people who shove religion down the throats of atheists I'm afraid. You think you're educating but you aren't. You're making them hate athiesism.
If someone says they're an athiest it's not my job to try to convert them. If they want to be part of a religion later in life, then it's up to them to join that religion.
It's the same with atheistism, my friend.
It's not your job to try to convert a religious person to athiesism. If they ask about it, tell them about it but don't force it down their throats.
That will only make them hate it. Trust me, I know from expierence.

AVOlD In reply to LightningAxe1000 [2016-09-17 22:27:05 +0000 UTC]

LightningAxe1000 In reply to AVOlD [2016-09-17 22:29:03 +0000 UTC]
Actually I can call them liars because they have no evidence of seeing such things. Just because someone claims something as true doesn't make it true. Holy shit you must be gullible....Oh wait, you're religious. Of course you're gullible.Β

AVOlD In reply to LightningAxe1000 [2016-09-17 22:53:43 +0000 UTC]
Don't be an ass about it, I have my beliefs and you have yours.
And why would three 6 year old kids lie about seeing Mary, even when threatened with death? Because that happened. Why would people at their death beds lie? You can be in denial all you want but there is proof.
π: 1 β©: 1
LightningAxe1000 In reply to AVOlD [2016-09-17 22:56:12 +0000 UTC]
Parents can easily manipulate their children into filling their religious agenda. Yet again you're really fucking gullible. There's no actual proof. No physical evidence at all. Word of mouth doesn't mean shit. I think you're the one in denial pal.
π: 0 β©: 1
AVOlD In reply to LightningAxe1000 [2016-09-18 01:19:49 +0000 UTC]
The parents weren't religious.
But I do know that parents can do that and it's wrong. Children deserve to choose their own beliefs. But that doesn't mean it's okay for atheists to force atheism on their children either.
Kiddo you're so bitter about religion there's really no point in trying to talk sense into you.
π: 1 β©: 1
LightningAxe1000 In reply to AVOlD [2016-09-18 01:43:45 +0000 UTC]
Where are you even hearing about these stories? Children lie all the time to get attention. I did it when I was a kid. Would you believe it if a child told you they saw a monster under their bed? Like I said unless there's physical evidence, I'm not interested. Yet AGAIN you're very gullible. It is very okay considering atheism is the way forward in society. Atheism is correct, religion is not. What makes you think that your religion out of the thousands that exist is right? That's pretty arrogant if you ask me.Β
π: 0 β©: 2
AVOlD In reply to LightningAxe1000 [2016-09-18 03:38:58 +0000 UTC]
Oh I'm the arrogant one? Says the one who keeps saying he's "smarter than everyone because he's not religious". Uh, okay, hypocrite.
The whole story is three kids (I'm not sure where they live) were herding sheep and a storm hit. They tried to get home but they got lost and found a place to shelter. They thought they would die but instead they saw Mother Mary. She told them to tell everyone they saw her and she helped them get home and she cleared the storm. She told them that one of the three kids would die early, but not to be afraid because she would be there.
The kids got home safely and told everyone. No one believed them (hey just like you) and their mother punished them for lying and people were so outraged the children would say that they threatened to hang them if they didn't tell the truth. They refused to deny Mary and later one of the three did die early and the other two lived full lives.
It was on the news a long time ago.
