I appreciate it when illustrators make an object's outline a dark shade of the object's base color rather than just using black. It makes the subjects in an image look more harmonious by reducing the notability of aliasing, and also making objects blend in with the environment more naturally.

Yep, I agree!
Tbh, I'm still do a lot of intense black outlining (especially since I was more influenced by outlines found in some comics and cartoons where they feature these), so I'm still practicing and experimenting with doing outlines in this kind of style.

I don't really use the one in Win 8/10 (currently that's the latest one), I'm using the one from Win 7. I can still show you my process if you want : )
