Yet another Nerf mod. This one pulls double duty as both a cosmetic mod, and a cosplay prop. It's Riff's laser cannon from Sluggy Freelnace . The base is a Nerf Firefly. I chose it mainly because of the glowy bits that would make it look a little more scifi.

It's not an exact duplicate of the one Riff uses in the comic, but I think evokes the idea of a big shiny laser cannon well enough. The extension on the barrel is a large commercial plastic wrap tube with chrome duct tape. The barrel actually ruins the aerodynamics and causes the darts to fly out of control, but it's removable.

This is mainly a cosmetic mod, not a performance mod, though I did increase the power just slightly by adding an extra spring to the plunger, removing the airlfow restrictors, and adding a swivel to the cylinder cover so it can be opened for easier reloading. Pretty much the very basic stuff. The Firefly is a more show gun than a performance gun anyway. Those glow in the dark darts in the cylinder though really did add to the gun's visual appeal.

A lot of people asked me about it at A-kon 2009, even those who didn't recognize the cosplay. To be fair the bleach didn't take so my hair stayed brown.

I added a maglite modded recon tactical light to the top just to make the thing glow in more places. I don't like to brag but compared to most of the flat blacked recons and longshots people were using as props, I probably had the best nerf prop at the con.
