Description
In 1956, following the discovery of Gojira and Anguirus, miners discovered a hibernating pair of living pterosaurs related to the North American Pteranodon. Much larger than any previously discovered fossil pterosaurs, these creatures were possibly mutated by the high levels of residual radiation following hydrogen bomb testing in the Pacific. Peculiarities of the new pterosaur (called Radon or Rodan) include habitually bipedal posture when on the ground, presence of relatively short, curved wing fingers, dsungaripterid-like teeth and paired cranial crests. Flying at supersonic speeds, the adults created massive property damage as they emerged and went in search of food and nesting areas. This caused the Japanese government to view them as a threat and engage in a seek and destroy mission to exterminate the enormous flying reptiles. Both adult pterosaurs perished in a volcanic caldera after being engaged by the Japanese military, but a juvenile survived and was eventually contained on Monster Land with other giant, mutated relics of the bygone prehistoric ages.
