Description This is a preliminary skeletal reconstruction of the new Gojira based on available toys, models, and photos. Little is known about the history of this beast-god except that the US military apparently knew about it and tried to kill it in the 1950s with hydrogen bombs. Dr. Serizawa indicates that it is an ancient animal, possibly older than the dinosaurs and maybe know from some fossil remains. Evolving at a time when the radiation levels on Earth surface were much higher than today, this monster lives at the bottom of the ocean now closer to volcanic vents and elevated levels of radiation. Attempts to kill it with hydrogen bombs in 1954 were unsuccessful and the creature went into hibernation after a full-on nuclear attack by the US government. Its existence remained top secret until a series of Earth changing events led to its rapage in 2014. Legends about the creature's attacks led to creation of the famous Gojira (Godzilla) movies from Japan and its general acceptance as a myth and fantasyΒ by the general populace. All that changed when the creature made its appearance in the western hemisphere early in the 21st century. I'll update this restoration as better images become available, but for now, thanks for looking.

In general terms it looks very good. The bones are thick to hold and the skeleton looks like a real creature. I just think that the first cervical vertebrae are too thin.

Seems like this was made before the 2014 film was released. It needs a bit of update. Here's an accurate side view of a toy based on scans from the film: www.kaijuaddicts.com/wp-conten… Also, it should be 108.2 meters tall.

I like so much your model. The feets like sauropod or tortoise to suport it's weight looks really plausible. Only as constructive criticism, the first cervical vertebrae were very thin.

From what I've heard, godzilla (gojira) was actually created when the asteroid hit the earth 65 mya. Tyrannosaurus was hyper evolved and mutated from the radiation into the Godzilla species. The giant insects were mutated and hyper-evolved into mutos, and the mammals (who were underground) were not affected too much. But, they did become near human size and more intelligent. Then, godzilla and the muto's needed to counter each other, so they developed weapons to stop each other. This backstory opens the door to bring in more classic monsters.(anguirus, mothra, rodan, the works)

slowusaurus In reply to Primalk [2014-08-05 18:11:45 +0000 UTC]

Eh, according to the prequel comic, Godzilla's species and the MUTOs actually came from the Permian period, way before Tyrannosaurus or any other dinosaurs existed. Godzilla was hinted to be the sole survivor of his species and occasionally shifts from dormancy to active hunting over the course of 250 million years.

Primalk In reply to slowusaurus [2014-08-06 04:23:46 +0000 UTC]

I believe that the comic (which I own), was not fully canon. The writers had a very barebones summary of the movie, thus couldn't follow all the canon universe "regulations." I read that theory in an interview with he movie's writer somewhere, as one of the possible theories to Godzilla's origin that they left to the viewer's imagination. That's my favorite idea of Godzilla's origin, so I decided to post it. Everyone has opinions though, so believe what you want.

I think he is an amphibious breed of Archosaur that was related to the dinosaurs or may have been an early precursor to the dinosaurs. It would make sense since Godzilla's bone structure is Saurian in form.
