Description
"Joe", Watercolor, 11"x15", For Sale (Prints Available), 2011As part of "My Friends" Series.
In the summer of 2010 my wife & I became close friends with Joe and Vicki Queen. We were going through a hard time in our lives - it was the only time we were forced to make it on art alone - and thanks to them we did. Through the help of Joe and Vicki we were able to sell over 25 pieces of artwork either at the shows we held at their gallery or restaurant. This piece is dedicated to Joe and Vicki (she's on the list!) and it was the best way for me to say thanks!

Thanks abcarattack, I appreciate it. Joe is a great guy and I couldn't ask for a better friend. He would put his artist friends' work ahead of his own. He is a salt of the earth kind of guy and the same with his wife! I hope the stenciling and art is going well for you my friend, I look forward to seeing your new work.

Thank you, appreciate it. I saw a few books the other day and thought I'd pass along the titles for you to check out sometime: "Stencil Nation" and a small 5"x7" book titled "Street Artist". Great work in both.

Thanks man, I already own Stencil Nation and the other is great, I dont have it but I looked into it. I think the difficulty comes when you do stencil/street work on canvas it takes alot away from the street art refrence, and I figure the best street art is when it is a political statement posted in an artist's view idk ?

I totally agree about the political work. I enjoy a lot of Banksy work - even though a lot of street artist are mad at him. I also like VHILS, Blek Le Rat and Sheppard Fairey. I have a whole list that I like but I would have to say VHILS is tops for me - as I like portraiture. But recently I have seen a lot of street art in galleries and people are responding well to it, perhaps not the street artist but ordinary people love it in the galleries. I want to say it was VHILS that actually did a show in a gallery using actually walls for his canvas. To me, whether it is on a street corner or a canvas, it is about the final product: Does it work? Does it evoke a feeling? Does it say something? To me that is far more important than the surface (unless the surface plays a part in the work itself). Either way, your work is tremendous!
