Hez swam back to the edge of lake as fast as he could, eager to put some distance between himself and the alligator. Jos clung on tightly to his brother's back, only giving a squeak when he began slipping as Hez scrabbled along the bank. Changing tactics once they reached the shallows, Hez stood up and waded quickly, free to use one arm to support Jos and the other for balance. As he stepped on dry land, Hez risked a glance back and let out a sigh of relief.

"It's given up! You can breathe now buddy." He looked back towards his silent brother, "Jos?"

Trembling slightly as he peaked over Hez's shoulder, "We were almost eaten... that's... so... COOL!!" he exclaimed bouncing excited on the last word.

The older brother sighed and rolled his eyes at the little one's antics, walking back towards their stuff. "Sure bud, it was cool," he crouched down and let Jos off, passing him his crutch and saying, "Let me go dry myself off then I'll help you." Hez walked a few paces away before shaking himself off, vigorously and in one fluid motion from his head down to his toes. He finished and walked back towards Jos who was watching intently.

"Wait, I wanna try that!" Hez paused and cocked his head inquisitively at his little brother, before nodding and giving the gesture 'be my guest.' Jos hurried to where Hez stood, pausing a moment before giving a great, big, violent shake in all his extremities at once. Unfortunately the little guy's efforts met with mixed success, as his fur was only half as dry, while becoming twice as puffy. "It didn't work..." Jos said dejectedly as Hez fought to keep from laughing hysterically.

"Rookie mistake dude," Hez explained while stifling his laughter, compromising in a chuckle, "Instincts only get you so far. You have to channel the urge to shake along your limbs; you can't just give in and shake everywhere all at once."

"Oh, oops..."

"You'll get it eventually," Hez reached for the towel he brought and scooped Jos up, "For now though, I better help." Hez began to dry Jos off, making a game of it by twisting, flipping, and rotating him more than was strictly necessary, in order to make him dizzy. Once done, he set his little brother down, who was sticking his tongue out while trying not to collapsed. Laughing, Hez dressed himself and waited for Jos to follow suit, laying back with eyes closed, enjoying the sun. Jos finished dressing himself and, pretending he was still dizzy, approached his unsuspecting big brother and jumped on his vulnerable stomach, being sure to land knees first on him.

"Ooph!"
