Hez stood on shore, kicking off his pants while carefully watching Jos who had excitedly rushed into the lake. He removed his bandana before gingerly placing it on the ground such that it could not be blown away. Once satisfied, Hez waded in to the lake toward where Jos was happily flailing about; it was a shallower part of the lake, as Hez made it a rule that Jos was not allowed to swim anywhere Hez's feet could not reach the bottom. Still a little annoyed at the mess his little brother had caused and seeing that he was distracted, Hez saw an opportunity to get back at Jos. Silently, he dove beneath the water and approached Jos. He waited until Jos, realizing his brother's absence, began looking around and calling for him.

"Payback Time!" Hez shouted as he leapt out of the water inches behind Jos. Jos jumped and had barely had enough time to turn his head back to look before Hez tackled him. He began wrestling Jos, alternating between picking up and throwing him and dragging him under for a few seconds.

After a few minutes of this, Hez could make out Jos saying "Stop it... Mercy!" in between a combination of gasping, coughing, and giggling. He relented, having stopped being annoyed long ago and gave Jos a chance to breath.

"I hope you learned your lesson."

"Hey, I wouldn't have had to make that mess if you had just taken me swimming earlier, like you said you would!" Jos replied cheekily back, splashing water toward Hez. Hez sighed tiredly and lay back in the water, floating. Mistaking the expression on his brother's face for anger, Jos said quickly, "I just wanted to play with you again... like we used to before..." He trailed off, not finishing the sentence.

Hez replied back, "I know, I like playing with you too. But I also like being able to eat and having a bed to sleep in, which last I checked, you do too. That means I gotta work, even when you wanna play."

Jos swam to Hez and put his arms on his chest, using him to float, "Ok, I'm sorry, I won't interrupt you while your working again."

Hez ruffled Jos head and said, "Thanks. Fortunately people seem to think your cute. Otherwise Mrs. Johnson wouldn't have paid me a full days wages for a half-days work to do this! For reasons that are just beyond me, she actually likes you and doesn't see you for the pest you truly are!"

"Hey, you take that back!" Jos pushed off of Hez and splashed his face. Hez began swimming away and Jos chased after him. They raced for a while until Jos began to have trouble keeping up. Once he was tired, Hez let Jos cling to his back and swim together in the deeper parts of the lake. Hez would then dive and follow the fish until Jos signaled for air.

On one such resurfacing, Jos said, "Big brother, I just noticed something weird."

"Hmm?"

"Well, you see all the logs drifting in the current around us? How is that one moving in the opposite direction?" Jos pointed and Hez directed his gaze to the log. Hez quickly dove his head underwater, causing Jos to squeak as he was not yet ready for a dive and he was still holding on. However, Hez surfaced just as quickly and replied,

"Cause, little brother, that's no log, that's a 'gator."

"Wow, that's so cool!" Jos excitedly squirmed to get a better view, "Umm, isn't it coming towards us?"

"Yep", replied Hez.

"...Should we run?"

"...Yep!"
