Description
So this is one of the pictures from this 'meme'; [link] and was inspired by the amazing Tom Waits and his song Day after Tomorrow [link]Apart from this drawing being coloured, I FINALLY got around to buy myself a tablet Weird. I have NO idea how you people do! I do hope by Holy Hell that'll grasp how it is done!
Either way this is my second attempt with this very strange and unfamiliar tool; tablet.
Either way I like the outcome - and it was good training. And now I'm tired.

Finally I can sit down a leave a review here after faving it days ago.
I'm fairly new to the DWD fandom, as I didn't watch much of it growing up. I mean, I knew OF it and saw some stuff from it but it was never really on my radar as I was more of a PBS Kids and Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes watching kid. Then I grew up and got really into superheroes and the bestie got Disney+ that she so generously allows me to mooch off of (I love that girl). Now I'm hooked on it on level that it probably isn't healthy, but I guess that's to be expected when you're a father-daughter relationship junkie.
Long story short, this piece of artwork is beautiful and amazingly sweet, and is--without a doubt--one of my absolute favorite faves. I take a look at it just about everyday to try and help me reach my daily father-daughter fluff quota.
... I suppose there are worse addictions to have.

I know Gosalyn is sleeping in this picture and her dad Darkwing Duck A.K.A. Drake Mallard watching her.
But what's the story in this picture?

very nice, I honestly cannot recall if I watched Darkwing Duck when it was on TV, just because my memory for those sorts of things is XP. From what I have watched, it is rare to see Drake doing the fatherly sort of things, probably because he is too busy trying to keep her out of trouble, not to mention he is new to the whole being a parental figure in a young persons life. anyways nice work the coloring and shading definitely adds to the mood.

This was only your second time on the tablet!?
Wow. I've had mine for weeks and all my attempts to do tablet-only drawings still look like I drew them with my feet. So I still trace over a pencil sketch instead. >_<
Anyhoo, this drawing is sweet. The expressions and the coloring/lighting capture the character's feelings and personalities very well.

Thanks a bunch - it was only my second attempt, but it was a handdrawn sketch I had scanned, to which I coloured it on my tablet... so it's more my second time 'colouring' on tablet, not making a full-fleshed out drawing

*cocks brow* your second try, huh? I couldn't get anything done with mine after the twelfth try*sigh*sob* This is very beautiful, with a sad undertone. Drake looks like he's just been put through hell and made it home only in time to tuck a ruffled Gosalyn in bed after her football game. the slightly sketchy texture of the highlights just add to the feeling of both comfort and guilt Drake radiates.

Thakn you so much - it means a lot. Although I cringe going back to see this picture, I still really like the idea behind it as I adore tha father/daughter relationships in that show.

I loved that - although in my personal opinion, there was not enough father/daughter fluff, at all... It would have been nice if they had thrown in a few episode that had more focus on their relationship - oh well, maybe the comics will do that (Only read the first issue so far)

Only the first issue? then you'll like Quiverwing Duck.
I agree. the show needed some more father/daughter moments. that's why I liked "Bearskin Thug" as one of my favorites. it inspired me to make this: [link]

Honestly, today I can't colour in PS *without* my dear Vince (yes, I named my wacom, sue me) and while it's definitely a new experience for the first few times, if *I* can learn to do at least okay - like this, for instance [link] - you'll do wonders with it in absolutely no time at all.
Other than that - dammit girl, stop making me get a stab in the heart and an aaaw-feeling at the same time. It's weird.

Well, looking at it now, I still think I could have cleaned it up better in that area, but, oh well
Well, I'm not sure about the different brush tips - I use photoshop, and find it a bit tricky to figure out.

Siansaar In reply to FrothingLizard [2011-06-29 17:16:47 +0000 UTC]
yeah, it takes some time. i'd recommend opening the brush menu itself (a little page symbol in the upper right when you have brushes selected - or under "window - brushes") and playing around with different settings. for painting or soft shading i have one brush where i disabled shape dynamics but enabled "other dynamics" instead, f.ex.. it sets the brush opacity to the pressure you excert.

Simply beautiful. As a huge Drake/Gosalyn fanatic this is just my cup of tea. Gos looks so sweet and peaceful here and carefully poking/caressing her cheek is just what her dad would do. Thanks for sharing this!
