I kinda think its interesting how this region is the first one where i feel like there's a universal theme in the pokemon design. Maybe thats why a majority just aint workin for ya...

yes i agree, i feel like the other generations (maybe not generation 1) don't really have that theme, so yeah i could see that

yeah, those gens had room for variety (mewtwo to doduo, etc) But in a way, a universal theme kinda limits pokemon designs here
