Description 3rd place www.deviantart.com/boooberry/j…

Dejana and Kaskelot, again! Now they have flewn over to Slovenia for the summer event there. Dejana having a bit of trouble turning and controling kaskelot with a mild bit. He is a brute for sure. I think I came to depict all the things I wanted to depict.

-Horse's name: ZM's Kaskelot
-Rider's name: Dejana Raznjatovic
-Stable: Zakharov Stables
-Start number: #117
-Class entering: Mini Prix, 1,10 m
Show: Show: littlehorselover.deviantart.co…

"You feel ready?" Dunai looked up at Dejana as she stopped the big stallion by the fence of the warm up arena. She had a frown on her face and looked down at Dunai as she tried to make Kaskelot stand still. "Not really.." She murmured through her teeth as tha stallion stepped around at the place, flinging his head as if he wanted to knock Dejana. She had problem making the stallion listen to her. She was a bit too small for a horse this big and headstrong. The judge had announced upon arriving that no harsh bits where to be used in the class they were entering, and that had really become a problem. With only a regular bit, the girl lost all little strenght she had against Kaskelot and his sometimes ill manners.

The black stallion flinged his head, making a sound deep from his throat to show that he was not pleased with standing still. Dejana had to keep him in a small circle, trying to pick up Dunai's tips and advice for her ride that soon would come. Kaskelot where so fired up that when she stopped by Dunai so that he could help her adjust her stirrups, the stallion jumped up in the air on all four, then making a quick turn in a move to try to get her off his back. She swore lowly as she pulled the stallion back together and heard Dunais laughter.
"Chin up now Dejana, he's just too full of energy. Let him walk a bit, then take a final jump just before you have your turn. He wished her good luck and then went of to look at the other competitors. Dejana tried to keep Kaskelot in a relaxed walk around the warm up, but it was much steps of trot and even some canter at the spot. She started to get annoyed, even a bit nervous. "You will kill me out there" she whispered, then gave the stallion a quick stroke on the neck, fast enough so that he didn't bounce off.

The day was hot and every rider was thankful that the judge had announced that jackets were not obligatory today. Dejana and Kaskelot were now waiting for their turn just outside the arena. Dejana followed the rider before her with one eye and kept the other on Kaskelot that was very fired up by this unfamiliar, mountain air. It was a very beautiful place, Dragnosnest stablesd, but her hands and attention where on the breaking point and there was no time to focus on the surroundings. Their turn had come. Dejana bit her lip as she let Kaskelot into a collected canter as they entered the arena. it was big and the timelimit was very hard, but she knew Kaskelot had a big gallop and laid lots of ground beneath him, but how would they be able to take any tight turns in the jump off? The stallion did barley listen to her hands with his bit as he was too fired up and excited to see all the fences. Dejana took a deep breath as the starting signal went and concentrated on the course. Upon seeing the first fence, Kaskelot pricked his ears and quickened the speed. Dejana tought briefly that this will go very fast.

Holy cr*p this picture!
Everything about it is just amazing! The pose, the tack, the SHADING, Kaskelot's expression! It's awesome how much their poses (and everything really) show their relationship, or should I say Dejana's struggles with the stallion! He truly looks headstrong with that open mouth and those tight reins! And I just have to love how you drew his body, so thick and muscular! (that neck omg)
One also shouldn't forget about the background, especially those mountains! I can never ever get mine to look right but yours do! So much! I truly envy your skills! And I am loving this breed of yours more and more every time I see you draw one of the horses! I've always had a thing for bigger, slightly thicker warmbloods, and the Zakharovs are just drool-worthy! It's an honor to see one compete at DNS!

Thank you for entering and best of luck in the competition!
