Description
This one's an illo for an article in No Quarter Magazine #24 about 'Jack Quirks.I really liked the idea with the steamjack just sitting there watchng the bird and smoking and his 'master' screaming angrily at him.

You think lazy 'Jacks are bad? Try having your own warbeast try and eat you for pushing it too far.

No wonder Gygnar is hard pressed on all sides when their warjacks are lazy...
I like it

A friend just linked me this, and the two of us were cracking up about the Lancer not giving two shits towards Jr there. Very awesome. You've done an amazing job of drawing robotic apathy.

Very cool. I love the idea that a machine of war can appreciate a moment of peacefulness.
......Is that a cigar? Hahahahaha! SMOKE-O!
Fantastic.

awesome pic, love the mood on this one.
tho i have to admit that the cigar is a bit too much, bird alone would have been way more effective.

Joyrneyman's life is not always easy.
Great job dude! First when I saw smaller pic of this, I thought that Lancer is holding a glass of wine. But cigarrette works fine too.

Anyone else find it amusing that steamjack 'personality' is the result of corruption in its brain?

It's like some 'corrupted' AI suddenly getting strange habits.
Maybe that's one of the reasons I play mercenaries: They use older 'Jacks which have more personality.

Beautiful pic, by the way. I like how the lancer's so chilled and you can almost hear the journeyman's irate adolescent squawking.

I love this part of the Warmachine background...that the jacks are not just machines but can have their own personality.

If I saw the enemy coming and my 4-tonne bodyguard decided to 'take a break', I'd be pretty upset too...

I think it puts steamjacks on a new level, also gives a different perspective in general regarding these steam-hissing automatons built for war

That is so hilarious, I could die laughing! I am a new fan, just getting into Warmachine and Iron Kingdoms, and the idea of warjacks behaving however they like cracks me up!
Excellent job!

Thanks!
And welcome to the fabulous Iron Kingdoms!
Yeah I like the idea as well, that warjacks are not just two-legged weapons or kind of a rc-car.
It was real fun to do this piece and all the quirks mentioned in the article a cool and funny to read.

I have a question: Are Lancers robots? Or just people in total armor?

Yeah they are some kind of robot powered by steam and magic. If you want more info there have a look at the page of Privateer ->[link]

I really like this one - the Lancer looks so laid-back and the poor warcaster looks like he's at his wit's end. I gave my manga warcaster character a Lancer for her first 'jack. I like their design and they look like they have personality.
Hey, at least this fellow's 'jack isn't into poetry or anything.

I hope you read through all the comments on your art. Anyway! while technically good, I can't help but feel it looks a little dull and lifeless, in fact i would say that's a problem with most of your art. Try pushing the lighting and mood as far as they can go. I hope you don't mind but I did a little paint over to show what im talking about
[link]
(note the cropping ISN'T a suggestion I just didn't want to fiddle with the entire image) anyway I hope that helps, or not, just something to think about I guess.

I think I know what you mean and lighting and contrast is something I keep my eye on at the moment.
Though I don't think most of my art is lifeless...at least not for me...
