Description

Spotify removed the important local API some time ago. This is why all skins broke.
For now we are using a different approach which - unfortunately - needs some tweaking. I hate dependencies but this is the way to go.

It gets harder and harder to keep this skin alive. But it is alive. It is 4 years old by now and still working flawlessly.

The following steps are MANDATORY for a working skin, unfortunately. Read all the instructions first, please!

0. Delete any old version of the old "Spicetify Rainmeter Skin" if you used this skin before.

1. Follow these instruction carefully (5 commands one after an other into PowerShell + Comprehensive Guide available): pastebin.com/87muQXZ2

1.1 If an error occurs at the beginning you need to enable Internet Explorer 11 within the Windows settings and start it once for a properly working PowerShell.

1.2 If an error occurs saying something about a backup, just delete "backup" from the last line "spicetify backup apply" --> "spicetify apply" and press ENTER again

1.3 If an error occurs at the end simply reinstall Spotify as suggested by the script.

2. Install Spotify Control Rainmeter skin.

3. Play a song in Spotify and benefit.

4. After every Spotify client update you need to re-do step #1 (entering all 5 PowerShell commands again)

Features

Custom Right-Click-Menu for resizing (Fully scalable due to vector graphics)

Playback commands for free and premium users with on- and offline Spotify

Completely hidden when Spotify is closed

It is definitely still working! As King-Aphriel recommended: Please try
to reinstall Spotify. Maybe Spicetify is messing up with your current
Spotify installation.

Hm, it works for me even with the latest spotify update. Maybe it's Windows 7 related.

Did you enable WebPlayingCompanion in the Spicetify skin?

Hi, thanks for this skin... It's one of very few that work as intended.

Issue: The cover art and album text seems to display perfectly when the song starts playing (or gets skipped), but within a second or two it goes blurry (album text disappears all together). Known issue? Is there a fix?
Question: Is there an easy way to edit the skin .ini to make it smaller than the current "smallest skin size (0.5)"? Ideally I'd like a 0.1~0.25 size

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

fuckyeahlucas In reply to kristoficus [2019-05-04 15:02:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your comment.

I cannot reproduce the bug with blurry or disappearing elements of the skin; it works flawlessly with Spotify version 1.1.5.153.gf614956d.

If the bug persists you can delete the skin and re-install it (dont forget to follow the steps on the companion skin Spicetify)

For the resizing: Open the .ini file and change line 11 and 12 to the following, where XX is your desired factor 0.10 or 0.25

ContextTitle3=Smallest Skin Size (0.X)

ContextAction3=[!WriteKeyValue Variables SCALE "(#SCREENAREAWIDTH #*0.0005-0.XX)"][!Refresh]

how do u make it tiny like that and make it stick to desktop. The instructions are very unclear.

fuckyeahlucas In reply to NoodJetPacker [2019-04-21 00:35:26 +0000 UTC]

The instructions aren't unclear. Just read them carefully. Maybe you could try right-clicking the skin?

Making it stick to the desktop can be done within Rainmeter settings.

All is working fine but the buttons in the spotify app are small boxes, and favorite songs page is also messed up

fuckyeahlucas In reply to hamadasif64 [2019-03-30 11:22:27 +0000 UTC]

As I mentioned:

The important part is on the second page of the Extension tab of SPICETIFY - enable WebPlayingCompanion by clicking on it.

3.1 Everything else is optional. Disable every setting except the WebPlayingCompanion for best results and no UI glitches when updating the Spotify client.

Probably a (insivisible) spotify client update... You have to re-do the steps 2 to 4 again

It's is working fine for me with the latest client version. Report if it does not work after re-doing the steps

It works for me on an even higher version of Spotify (1.1.3.259.g8172f63a). So just follow the instructions carefully

hi, i have followed all the instructions and yet whenever i try to load your skin nothing shows up. is there something i'm missing or is there a spotify update that has interfered? i feel like the skin should still at least show up but i don't know what i'm doing wrong

I thought about multiple times but I did not come up with a good implementation since Rainmeter does not provide an easy option for moving objects.

This is a really good skin but is there any way I can change the colors or is it all dependant on the song I am listening too.Β  But overall amazing

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

fuckyeahlucas In reply to turboy7730 [2019-02-18 12:38:03 +0000 UTC]

The color is dependant from the cover art. But you can dig into the .ini file and make the colors hard coded. Just have a look at the .ini file and the Rainmeter documentation online
